just like a computer a ps3 can overheat. might want to sit it next to a window or a fan.. or buy some kind of a cooling system for it.

if you have some money to spare get a newer video card. like a gtx 630.
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130821

its not going to get you super great resolution or great looking games. but it should be enough to play games at minimum settings atleast. and hey if you end up like building pcs then you would be able to us it a dedicated physX card. also i believe it should hold its value. so you can resell it for like $40 bucks.

and anyone can correct me if i am wrong!

and i'd recommend a newer OS. that will help with many newer games and compatibility. like windows 7 or even 8! it being a desktop i assume windows 7 is a bit easier to use and is still the main platform games are written for, when its about pc gaming.

check ebay out for a new power supply adapter. or whatever theyre actually called. i assume that what you are talking about. otherwise you could stop at a local radio shack or electronics store and pick up internal components for it and repair it. would probably save ya a few bucks

    What is this thread about?

Power supplies usually have fuses in them. It should have blown before you smell burning.

You could repair it yourself if you are confident in your abilities.
