That's basically it. It's a laptop CPU with a slightly faster GPU essentially. I would guess the RAM would be a bigger issue and even then only just.

We know yields are better just by the mere fact that Sony will have many more units available at launch, and their APU Footprint is much smaller than XB1.

Like I said, good work Sony.

The XboxOne is 95% AMD and basically a low specced laptop and GPU with some ESRAM.

I dunno... I think it's true. I don't remember much of anything that Tretton has said in the way of PR.

The chip has a dedicated audio unit to perform processing for voice chat and multiple audio streams.
That's why the article is a fail.
Not only is it NOT anything to do with a sound processing (its a compression chip), its also never ever been talked about as being on the main chip.

But outside of that, again, it's still 95% AMD APU.
In fact technically its like 220% AMD APU, as its 2x a typical APU design setup, plus some bus tweaks.

But again, people say off the shelf like its a bad thing? Its thoroughly sensible in my eyes.

Yep, MS have gone down the same route, but took a misstep in having to utilise ESRAM to make up for their bandwidth deficiency, and now paying the yield price for having such a large transistor count.

Agree with you, Sony took some gambles that have paid off quite handsomely. More raw power, easier to access and more access to the metal.
