so guys my vita is about 3 1/2 months old and be been playing the hell out of it. I've had some issues with memory cards though. it's not like it won't read them, but every now and then a screen will pop up saying do not remove the memory cars when the ps vita is on, etc etc etc, the system will now restart. and that's when I haven't removed the card, or even touched the place where it goes. it's done this about 4 times now, any ideas as to what's the problem?

It sounds like it's just saying that as a warning not to remove the memory card. Make sure your Vita is off when you remove or switch memory cards.
Just a thought, as this has never happened to me, and I'm no expert. But when you're not using the Vita do you turn it off completely (Hold the power button and select power off) or put it in sleep mode, (press the power button, screen goes off)? If you only put it to sleep, and then switch memory cards, or remove and replace it, the system could be thinking your removing it whilst it is powered on?
If nothing what previous posters have said relates to your issue then you should database rebuild and/or system restore, this has fixed most people's issue with any Vita problems. It'll ask you if you want to format your memory card but you can hit no and keep all your data.

Did you try my suggestion?
JUST HAD THIS SAME ISSUE WITHIN PAST WEEK! Bought a Vita about 3-4 weeks ago once the price drop was announced. Within the same purchase, I bought a 32GB memory card. Everything was working fine up until a few days ago. The exact same pop-up message appeared, and I noticed it would happen randomly at any given moment (whether in game, just having started up the Vita, etc.). I called Sony, explained my issue, and they said it's either 1) The Vita or 2) The memory card. So seeing as I had purchased the Walking Dead bundle, I had a 4GB memory card laying around. I swapped the 32GB in my Vita out for the 4GB memory card and WA-LA. Was back to normal, until I swapped the 32GB back in! The issue was with the 32GB memory card. How did it mess up? I have no clue. But I went back to Gamestop and used my receipt to exchange the broken 32GB memory card for a brand new 32GB card, and everything is back to normal.
OH! And I did this all after trying to restore/reformat and all that stuff that worked for you.
If your problem returns try using a completely different memory card and see if that helps. Good luck and happy gaming!
