a friend of mine has an external USB SSD hooked up but he's not getting GTAV just yet. I wonder if a SSD can overcome that.

Have the digital version and can honestly say that I haven't noticed any 'pop in' issues at all

Yeah, I was hoping too, they would have tested a fast hard drive or SSD.

Another of those "Not helping the Digital-Only Cause".

Hopefully they fix it for those who bought the digital version though. One of those unacceptables I was talkin' bout.

If the default drives in PS3 were faster and the actual controller was faster this wouldnt be a problem but because they are both slow by todays standard they have to split the bandwidth between Blu Ray and Hard drive.

Is that what Digital Foundry is saying?

Rockstar might have reached the limits of what the PS3 is capable of in terms of streaming if that is the case.

Wow, that video is horrible, especially the older PS3 model. Consoles are rapidly becoming PCs for your TV and this is just another reason why...there is no excuse for older consoles behaving less than a newer PS3. Don't even get me started on the Xbox 360 version. I have a 2011 PS3 Slim 160 GB with a GTA V Disc version and I've only had 1 minor pop-in with the road out of 25 hours of gameplay.

Its the same for 360, they say not to install the second disk.

I played throughout the whole game and i have not experienced such pop-ins from the digital version at all!!

I think it depends on the HDD you have inside or maybe the PS3 is just acting up.

I've played about 5 hours (maybe a bit more) on the disc version. Reporting no pop in what so ever (even in high speed car races) though I have the 250gb slim ps3 and it may be related to old fat models (the game IS crashing old xbox360s)
