Guess what?....I have another question about Playstation.

So, I want to use my credit card on my PS3....which I don't like doing online when I can avoid it.

I usually use redeemable cards. Anyway....I'm a little scared about my credit card info being on the HDD in my PS3....if thats the case. I plan on trading in my PS3 eventually, and what if it gets stolen or something.

So, what happens to that info when you delete your credit card info. I only want to put it in there to buy one game and then take it off. I've heard "tall tales" where ppl get old 360 HDD and find info on them and use that info.

Just want to make sure everything is going to work out right.

the data SHOULD never be 'in there' but registered online at sony's servers. I can't promise there isn't some freaky cache though. Get a paycard.

I think the card's information is stored on the internet rather than your PS3. Don't you remember when Sony got hacked, thousands of credit card numbers got stolen and Sony even offered Identity theft protection to thousands of users?

But don't worry. Put the card in, buy, remove, format HDD before you sell and you are set. It's safe. Or is it?

Wrap the top of the PS3 in Tin-foil, this will stop the government stealing its thoughts and bank details

Seriously though, it's no biggie. Just put the card and make the purchase. Many people including myself had our cards in, when Sony got hacked and we still do.
Format the PS3 before you sell and that's it. The risk is pretty small.

I bought my PS3 at launch and having been exclusively using my debit card for PSN purchases, which is a big no-no. The only issue I've had was many years ago my account info was stolen by a guy I was in a gameshare group with on this forum which was entirely my own fault for allowing him access to my account (he's banned and prosecuted now ). Also, it was very easy to get my money back.

I think allot of the hype for not using a card through the PSN is overblown. Sony has been running server-driven content service for longer then most of us have been alive and are pretty damn good at it these days. Even after my issue I use my card again and have been trouble-free for several years again. YMMV but with a few common sense things in mind I do business worry-free through PSN with any card I'm currently using.

you'd need a password to do this...i wouldn't worry about it. if you are worried, just deleted off the info after you're done purchasing. no one is going to go into cache to find something. there are better ways to make money...a gamer's credit card wouldn't be the first thing on people's minds.

I went there first to ask my first question....but after no reply for like 2 days, I decided to just make a thread.

So thats what I've been doing.

I think I'm done with the questions though. It's just that with the new systems coming out and GTAV I've been getting back into console gaming (mostly PS3).

I'm primarily a PC gamer and don't really know too much about these consoles. It's a fun change a pace though.

nothing is stored on your hdd from playstation store except games , demos , other downloaded content. just make sure you remove everything in case there is a secret cache that none of us know about. you never know. format is your best option before selling.

Yeah, because this forum is just so busy we better cut down the crazy amount of active topics in this section.
