Finally! they fixed the rear view mirror! yessssssssssssss! I was really impressed with the reflections coming off the hood of the car when driving around in 1st person mode. This video impressed me.

Aren't you supposed to see the back interior of your vehicle from the rear view mirror? I guess the rear section of the car is missing

And this is what they said back then, so why aren't they doing it now with a more capable console?

Eurogamer:*Gran Turismo has weather effects and night racing. Why doesn't Forza 4? Have you explored the possibility?Dan Greenawalt: Every version we explore night and weather. We whittle down thousands of ideas, and we have these autonomous teams. We hire specialists. We build the game like an onion. At its core is a drop-dead amazing simulation engine. But we always assume we're wrong, and then find the best way to make it better. It's that commitment that makes me confident we have the strongest simulation, because we build partnerships other companies just can't, and we have a commitment to getting it right at our core.We then build assists and fun gameplay and things on top of it without ever sacrificing that. Well, part of that is a solid 60 frames per second. And I mean solid. When you start doing multiple projected shadows off of the front of the car... we have 16 players, so 16 cars times two, so 32 projected shadows. That is a very graphically intense thing. Now, that's totally possible on the Xbox 360, but it means the specialists we have in graphics would need to work on that problem, and it would be a hard problem. The hard problem we chose to take on with our graphics this version was Image Based Lighting, and working with Hollywood. Every version, we look at this long list of features we would do, and they are divided into these different autonomous groups that have the specialists that could actually do it. We just can't take a network developer and say, hey, why don't you do a new particle system. It's not that they're smart guys, but we hired them because they are so good at delivering network code.Graphically, doing huge particle effects, we would have to have that group that was developing IBL, and that took a long time for us to get it right. We had to implement a whole new way of thinking through the partnership with Hollywood. We'd have to have them working on that from the ground up. So that's the type of thing where we could do it. We could do it on this hardware. But it didn't prioritise higher than IBL, because the IBL and the way the game looks now is stunning, and it's universal. It helps everybody, no matter what type of player you are, having a beautiful looking game that runs at 60 frames per second is awesome. The things I've read on forums, people saying, well, I wish they didn't do this feature - first, that shows a lack of respect for the people who are going to love that feature, which is fine. I don't expect gamers to respect people the way I do. But, the assumption in that statement is, we have 350 people, why don't you just move them all on to this other thing I want? It's like, I can't move artists onto it. That's not going to help. I can't move networking devs. I can't move my physics developers. I can't move my AI developers. To hire the best in the industry takes years. Years. To hire the type of guys we get, you have to take people from Hollywood and other game companies. It's the only way you get senior talent. So you can't just decide, we want to do more, let's just staff up.I imagine a lot of focus has been put into Drivatar for Forza 5. Hopefully Forza 6 will have weather or at least day/night cycles because they are running out of excuses.

Found a better quality vid on Gamersryde. After seeing it much clearer this track doesn't look much different graphically than it does on Forza 4 on the 360. http://www.gamersyde.com/news_forza_...-14670_en.html

I suspect time to develop, this really is trying to take Forza 4 and port it to x86 code and add few things.
I'd get very pissed if they don't have weather and nighttime racing in Forza 6 however. They wont have any excuses.

I think forza 4 looks better.

I know! I am surprised by this too. I opened the pictures in tabs and switched between the 2 and came to conclusion this one must be forza 5 because it looks marginally better. But after checking the file names I was wrong, it was forza 4.

I thought it was showing that FM5 looks better than FM4.

In some areas of those screens it does and in some areas Forza 4 does but overall what improvements there are seem pretty marginal. If that Gamersryde video had said Forza 4 for 360 I wouldn't have even questioned it. It looks that close. Being 1080p and 60fps seems to be the only major improvement which of course would be easy to achieve if youre just porting Forza 4 and then adding a few things like mynd suggested.

Can you be specific about the FM4 being better in some areas? I can't see it. They obviously didn't just port it from FM4.. the track doesn't even look the same. The environment is different.

I dunno, may some details would help me understand where you're coming from.

The car model in Forza 4 looks a little better to me and the crowd in the stands looks better in Forza 5. And yeah theres areas that look different but not necessarily better. The overall graphics especially in motion look pretty much like they do on the 360 with only marginal improvements. Laguna Seca was the same deal. The only next gen looking track I've seen on Forza 5 was the city track we saw when they first showed it. Which ironically was the only one of the 3 tracks that wasn't on Forza 4. So I agree with mynd about not having as much development time as they needed and porting Forza 4 to X86 code and then adding a few things. The city track that wasn't on Forza 4 was obviously built on the X1 hardware and it shows. I'm sure you'll disagree with me but thats my opinion/observation.

Yeah, I mean we are talking about something that is being developed at the same time as a new console.

Yeah I get what youre saying. I think Forza 6 will be the true next gen Forza graphically speaking. Features, customization options, online community, car auctions, etc. will definitely rock on Forza 5 as always with the Forza series.

Forza 4 draw distance/ level of detail looks a tiny bit higher although overall resolution is clearly less or its just the lack of AA?
Forza 5 has blur on everything which made it look worse in a still image.
