    Playstation 4 data usage??

Hey, Im currently a gamer who has no choice but to use (previously 3G) and now a verizon lte connection for my ps3. Data plans haven't been much of an issue for me, a few times ive hit the limit (shared plan with the family), but with the new playstation are downloads going to be bigger? I read an article about usage going up and im kind of freaked out. Any other gamers that use 3g/4g and have a thought?

    Thanks!

Will vary from game to game. BF4 might have large patches because BF3 patches were around the 2GB mark.

Do you live in the sticks?

Yeah, northern IL normally isn't sticks, but its farm territory and I can't get DSL, and satellite is just awful!

Have you looked into getting a WISP (Wireless ISP)? I know some of the ones in TX have unlimited data caps, not sure about Illinois...

I'd fully expect the average game size to at least double. For non-Indies you can always be Disc versions. This may be a major PIA for you on PS+ IGC if you're a PS+ member.

Sadly its cost prohibitive. There is a satellite option but the tree cover makes putting up a dish nearly impossible. Well.. financially impossible. Have to mount it about 100' up a pole!

WISP isn't Satellite, it's RF. I'd suggest looking at the coverage map at least.

TAZ is right, it is not satellite, WISP use RF antennas between you and the ISP, I have a couple friends that live in east TX that use that type of service and overall it isn't too bad!

You live in USA so you are getting screwed by your ISPs anyway, right?

I have a data capped dsl connection but the cap is generous. I expect game sizes, patches and dlc to be about twice the size next gen compared to this gen.

Satellite would be OK for downloading but it has considerable lag, so much that it makes it unusable for online MP. You are in what is being called "the last mile" in the US broadband distribution. I remember when Clinton and Gore tried to lobby for a government effort to bring fiber to every house. Good old conservative right-wing Republicans fought that tooth and nail as part of "get the government off the peoples' backs". So, at least you have 4G and will have to pay through the nose for it. I hate having to pay a TV license, is there any way to get out of not paying it?

Depending on how much regular surfing you do, you might be able to get away with the 10GB plan, it all kind of depends how many game patches, etc. come out for the games. If you are light internet user, then you might just stick with the 5GB plan and just monitor the heck out of it the first couples months to track what kind you usage you have. You might actually start tracking it now so you can compare this gen to next gen!

LOL, don't watch TV! So out of curiosity, how much do they actually charge for the TV license?

You can have as many TV's as you want, you just pay for one. What if I said I only use my TV for games? I think we pay TV license because BBC 1 and 2 have no adverts during shows.

Thats "colour" yes it costs us 145 quid a year to watch tv then i pay 26 quid a month ontop of that for sky tv and 5.99 for netflix , im always too busy to watch any. I now even have to pay 125 quid a year to listen to the radio at my workshop because there is a potential that a passing member of the public could hear it so it comes under the duristiction of http://www.prsformusic.com/Pages/default.aspx . there is now another company chasing money , another 125 quid a year for the same thing. Thats 250 quid a year just to listen to MY radio in the privacy of MY own workshop ................

With a data cap like, you might be ok. Patches aren't too frequent, and online gaming doesn't use up that much data. Downloading demos and full games, not really an option. That can eat through your cap in one or two demos per month. Downloading a full game, for the next gen, won't even work on your cap. I'm speculating on that of course, but it's almost a no-brainer.

TIs fro watch and recording TV live as it is broadcast, the channel is irrelevant.
If you only use the online service like BBC iplayer and 4OD and watch the stuff AFTER its been broadcast then you can opt out.
