Well when you reverse policies and procedures I say it wasn't rushed but do they have their own direction at this point?

This is such a minor thing that it's basically inconsequential. It means nothing. Though I am curious about what the update does exactly.

This is no different to any dash update.

Console is already being shipped, right now. They are still working on the dashboard.

Its frustrating when they ( not just MS but any company really) give an amount of time rather than the actual file size....15 to 20 mins for me equals maybe 1GB download, if they are going off a higher average download speed the file would be bigger than that.

They have a big switch to flip but this is no biggie at all. Also, the DL time will probably vary depending on net speed.

15-20minutes is not a big deal. It is rather completely insignificant. The big worry however, is all those hundreds of thousands of Xbox Ones all trying to do the update at the same time during launch day. Good potential for something to go wrong with their network. Lets hope those azure servers they have been bragging about handle the job nicely.

Always a possibility, but they update 70 million xboxes over 48 hours every time they do a dash update.

Servers are the one thing I don't worry about with MS. Unless it's an iOS 7 level roll out don't expect many issues, that roll out proved that Azure is up to the task.

Also while it might be 15-20 minutes that is much better than the hour+ wii u update just to get to the main screen.

The average is 7.4 Mbps in the US according to akamai:

    http://techcrunch.com/2013/04/23/aka...ill-far-ahead/

Which is 0.925 megabytes per second.

Which likely means that the update is somewhere around ~ 1 gigabyte mark, give or take a few hundred megabytes.

I don't think it's a big deal - 15-20 mins is probably the least of anyone's worries when they've been waiting all year for these things.

This is definitely no worse then PS3's constant firmware updates. Just add up all the time that it took away from my PS3 playing time and Xbox updates sound like minor periodic coffee breaks in comparison.

It's not a forced update happening at the same time for everyone. If Xbox One ends up being popular, because of excitement, a lot of people will be online trying to download which can cause issues.

Apple updates a lot of iPhones within that time frame and there are issues, for example.

Not following you, a dash update easily has more people downloading it at once than this day one update ever will.
