all digital STILL isnt viable.. no matter how hard people want it to be. You wont be buying physical copies of games... but you WILL be buying physical HDD's to store them... imagine huge PS4 games like KZ... thats less than 10 games youll be able to put on your brand new 500gb PS4... buy a new HDD every 10-20 games? no thanks. ill keep sticking to physical copies.

It's a wireless broadband hotspot. Only decent high speed option there is where I live. Pretty much in the US, if you don't live within a few miles of a town you are $#@!ed. Trust me... it sucks.

    Right?
But with Hard Drives you need to buy both, the game and the HD.
With the physical copy, all you need is the game. Well, the game and some HD space, but much, much less than with an all digital version.
So IMO, unless this play as you download works incredibly fast so you can just have all you digital games uninstalled waiting to just start playing as they download, then I don't see having a large digital library this coming generation. It's to bad Sony didn't just give us a single USB port in the back of the console for external storage. If you could have a USB hub with multiple 2 TB plus drives, then $#@!! you could have as much games installed digitally as you want. I guess that's a nice touch that the XBO offers.

except youre STILL paying for the games... just because its digital doesnt mean free... so.. 60$ for a game (physical copy) or 60$ + HDD space + Extra HDD (= extra money)

Digital may be viable for some at the moment, but I think in a year or two people who went all digital's PS4s will be so full haha.

Plus, as I said it may be viable for some in terms of downloads but far far from everyone has internet that can do that

Why? I have speedy internet, I have no issue whatsoever with the files sizes. Games can be downloaded overnight when you are getting shut eye, no probs.

I only ever really play a couple of games at once, so I dont really think the 500GB HD size will be an issue either, at least not during the early stages of this gen.

But do you seriously play 10 games at once? I have no problem with deleting games once I have finished with them, as they are still stored against your PSN profile and can be downloaded again, so whats really the issue? (Other than people with data caps?)

what i hate about DD is that i need to keep it on the HDD. i know that sounds kinda silly but i wish they gave us an option to keep it on a cloud service...now THAT would be fair. not like it's our game anyway right?

I am realistic. It is not way off, it is now, I have been using digital distribution for 10 years.
If you do not want to use it you do not have to but I do and will.

but you're talking about games that don't go over 15GB (normally, unless we're talking about expansion packs). and stay around less than 10 for the most part.

    it's going up.

And internet speeds are also going up.

2005 Half life 2 took about 4 hours to download for me but a 50GB game today will take 2 hours.

I doubt that will be the norm the first half of this gen, unless they bloat it with 1080p videos and uncompressed audio.

Who knows, that is quite a jump though. Repeated data and audio/video was the thing last gen for the ps3.

Battlefield 4 on PC apparently requires 30+ gb of free hard drive. 3 required 10 for digital.

You are correct, read the last sentence of the 3rd paragraph of the linked article.

precisely why i like the option of keeping a disc. not only i can sell it later down the road, it's easier to install it rather than download. i actually love the installation and have always loved that feature on the 360.

really? weird because that's the first i've heard of it. makes no sense why it would be required. on the X1, before the change, it made sense because supposedly the disc was only data, didn't have boot records. which means it was just like a PC disc that can't be played, it needs to be installed first. due to DRM. so makes no sense here why they need to force that. they may have gotten that wrong i think.
