I know there's a lot of tutorials but most differ and I was wondering if anyone here has done this already?
If I buy a 2x RCA male to 3.5mm female adaptor, do I still need to use the composite cable or is that all I need.
My headset is analog with just the two 3.5mm jacks. This is why the different tutorials are confusing. I presume the USB dongle is needed for the USB headsets only?

Headsets only work on the PS3 via USB or bluetooth. The old headset of mine was a 3.5mm jack only so I had to purchase a USB adapter to get it to work. This is what I had: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-3-5.../dp/B0058P0I2C
Should have a mic input ideally but I guess they wnt us to buy their stuff and nto use stuff we already have.
