Google Toslink headphones. Sorry, but you're asking some pretty vague questions out here with no details regarding budgets and what you can and can't do. We're all for helping, but help us help you by providing details such as how much money you're willing to spend and what you're looking for.

I have a DellU2312HM monitor without HDMI input and a Logitech speaker without optical input. I was planning to connect my PS4 via HDMI-DVI cable and I was wondering how can I get audio this way? My monitor doesn't have any built in speakers or audio input.

My budget is 100-150$ max since I'm a college student and don't really have that much money with purchasing a Playstation 4 and 2 games at launch^^

I'm open to any advice but my main goal is to not lose audio quality. Hope it was understandable

There are multiple options, if you just want stereo audio the Toslink to 3.5mm converter to use with existing headset is great.

There are multiple Toslink headsets out there with 7.1 audio decode to headphones as well. Turtle Beach has a whole line of them.

Another option is something like the USB wireless adapter 7.1 chat headphones. Turtle Beach (and Sony has backed them up) saying that their PX4 Headset ($150 retail) will work on launch day, while Sony said their Pulse and Pulse Elite headsets will require a patch.

This seems like what you're wanting for your price range.

Going with a receiver or even crap speakers is going to be way out of your price range. Even a decent sound-bar (which isn't going to be as good as a headset - especially sitting close up, isn't going to sound good) is going to be out of your price range.

Personally I'd recommend the Turtle Beach PX4.

the way I see it here are your options:

    1. raid your local thrift stores for a receiver with optical/toslink input and speakers (i've been successful a couple of times)

    2. buy an optical headset (ussally to get quality ones it's wiser to invest in speakers)

    3. buy a soundbar or HTiB with optical (here are a couple)

    http://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-ATS-101...1854832&sr=1-1

    http://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-S3820w-C...1854832&sr=1-6

    4. buy one used from amazon or ebay

    http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-HT-Q70...854663&sr=1-34

    5. save up money and buy a quality receiver so in the future you won't have to upgrade, may i suggest this one?

the first and last two options will save you money in the long run.

    EDIT:
Just go with what taz said, it will save you the headache

Until I find out which headset I should buy, would this option work?

Yeah, that would be a low cost solution.

whelp. I actually went out and just bought a Yamaha RX-V475 5.1 AV receiver today. Got it pretty cheap too from best buy as it was marked as a "opened item". Found out when I opened it up, everything was still in the factory sealed packages so it was still brand new =D. Got it all set up and it just sounds amazing. MUCH, much better than before when I was running audio through the RCA cables!
