Xbone will not support MANTLE or OpenGL

We are very excited that with the launch of Xbox One, we can now bring the latest generation of Direct3D 11 to console. The Xbox One graphics API is “Direct3D 11.x” and the Xbox One hardware provides a superset of Direct3D 11.2 functionality. Other graphics APIs such as OpenGL and AMD’s Mantle are not available on Xbox One.

Why would xbox-one need mantle anyway? They have direct -x. Mantle is exclusive to PC's anyway.

Xbox one don't need it because it already jas a low-level API Directx 11.2 and Direct3D. Mantle wasn't design for console only for PC.

    uuummmmm...Fried Beer iis a reality.

c'mon guys, do you think the OP actually cares about Xbox having it.

    question Lefein,
in a box that does not need Open GL or MANTLE. why do you think it's a concern that is does not?

is there another console out there by any-chance that does use them?

    Sounds like it's DOA

    http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/16...-is-mantle-doa

    Mantle

Mantle is a low-level API specification[2] developed by AMD as an alternative to Direct3D and OpenGL. Currently the only implementation is for AMD'sGCN graphics processing unit architecture[3] although there is speculation other GPU vendors might be able to implement it in future.[2]
Maybe we should run to the PS4 section and post that that the PS4 won't be receiving Mantle. It's nothing more than a sub-par alternative to Direct3D, which is what everyone pretty much uses.

Mantle was always meant primarily for PC since consoles have been using low level APIs for years.

Yea, we know that. The op has a habit of making up threads like this. The article is about Direct3d. He took one sentence and went with that...lol

OpenGL is cool, I can see why they would go with Direct X being Microsoft but other than that no real reason to enforce it.
While the systems are both AMD, I bet the Xone uses different colour spacing / gamma curve and crushes the black levels for a third generation.

Look at project Spark, that game to me looks heavily crushed.
