I think it's fairly normal there. The PS3 didn't launch there until Fall 2010 time frame and it was still something like ~$1100.

Surprised they're even talking about Launching in Brazil this early in the console's life.

It would probably cost more than the console itself in Brazil, you would need to spend on plane tickets, food, hotel and the ps4.

    Plane ticket to America: $800.
    PlayStation 4: $399.
Console, holiday and the lovely memories in between: Priceless.

Carlsberg don't do ventures for PS4s...

Comparatively, the Xbox One will be retailing at $1,100. One of the few territories where it's cheaper than its counterpart.

Man, I thought we (the swedish people) were the screwed ones. You (Brasilian people) have my sympathies. We only get to pay about $600 for the PS4 and about $90-$100 for the games.

So the Xbox One in that same place costs 1,100 while the PS4 in the same place cost 1,849? that doesn't make any bit of sense. hmmmm I'm stumped in thought on why this is the case.

Yep. It boggles the mind in all honesty.

Why does it cost so much in different countries? Why can't it cost the same everywhere?

yea but it's the fact that the Xbox one in American dollars is still more expensive than the PS4. So in that case you would think the Xbox One in Brazil would be around R$4.000,00

Brazilian taxation on games consoles, also doesn't Brazil have a Sony console manufacturing factory?

oh wait, actually it would be more unless something odd is happening. Okay so in R$ the PS4 is 864,03. Xbox One is 1.297,13 which is Estados Unidos. So now after looking at Brasil...It says the PS4 is R$4.000,00 so the Xbox One is actually..

    PS4 = R$4.000,00

    Xbox One = R$6.005,01

so the Xbox One in American money would be around $2,700

But hell, I don't know exactly how the money works in those areas. This is just a guess in practice out of the bounds of understanding the money system there.

Fear not Brasilians, Venezuela's price will hit the extortionate rate of $3500 apparently.

That's one problem. Another problem is that videogames are taxed incredibly high over there (even higher than other electronics) because of the political perception that games are evil and a waste of time.

I believe once I read the amount of taxes on videogames are equivalent to the taxes on lottery.

inflation rates, strength of their monetary system, government taxes all play into the price of the console. sad really
