Gran Turismo was my first PlayStation game. I remember it to this day. That yellow Supra FD on the Deep Forest raceway track. So much good times.

Damn, you weren't kidding when you said you skipped the consoles until the PS3! We had a Coleco Telstar Ranger before the Atari 2600, but I was only around 3 years old when we played with that, I still remember playing Pong on that bad boy as well!

Alongside revealing their Since ’95 video, a nostalgic look at PlayStation’s history and heritage, Sony have teased that their PS4 advertising campaign will be massive, saying that it’s “the biggest in our history” to TSA. So, expect big things from their PS4 advertising campaign, which they’ll be gearing up over the next month or so, until the US launch of November 15th and then continuing past that to the European launch on the 29th, with plenty of post-release advertising to follow. They’re also teasing plans to get this Since ’95 video out to the masses over the next few weeks, so they’re clearly aiming at a wider audience than you and I; more than just the people reading articles and watching videos on gaming sites, anyway. Hopefully that amounts to much more than pushing the “This is for the Players” slogan and #4thePlayers hashtag. But those are nice too. http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2013/10/...sonys-history/

I remember being around 10 when I first got my hands on a PS1. Then that got stolen. And waited around 2 years (2002/2003?) to get the PS2 as a Christmas present.

And then around Uni, hearing the buzz about the PS3 (I think the very first iteration of PSU which I think was PS3 news or something like that) and buying a launch JP console (one of the first in New Zealand to own one). Drove all the way to Hamilton to pick it up from a guy who drove up from Taupo.

And now just over a month until release, and I can't wait.

    EDIT:

My dad also owned a NES (the tank battles game really took a lot of time) which I played a lot. And also played Civ when I was around 7. But PS has always been my go-to.

So who still has the Demo 1 disk that came with the PS1?!

This is my gaming timeline, not including hand helds or PC's:

    Spectrum +2

    Atari 520ST

    Amiga 1200 (still going strong)

    Amiga CD32 (not sure why)

    Playstation 1

    Playstation 2, GameCube

    Xbox 360, PS3

Not including the Demo 1 disk the first game I played on the PS1 was WipeOut, followed by Ridge Racer which was given to me.

I was very much a home computer person up until the Playstation 1 released, when I first saw a demo of Ridge Racer on a gaming show called Bad Influence I was blown away and new I had to get one!!

In fact here's the link to the youtube vid (skip to about 50 seconds):

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2E60UWtzVI

    That brings back some memories!!

The first ever game I played was at a friends house, it was called wipeout

I remember being blown away by the graphics. One day my sister and her mate were going out for drinks, her mate needed a baby sitter and my sis said if I do it, she would let me play her ps1. I agreed without hesitation and the game I played was ff7. I was hooked and got myself a ps1.

I remember the first time I ever saw one, it had only just come out in NZ that week, and one of the boys from work had hired it a Tekken from the video shop. He bought it in at lunch time so we could see it running.
I worked at a computer assembly business, so we were all naturally intrigued by the system.
We also were the distributors for Creative so it was interesting to this new fan-dangled 3d chip things, as Creative was just about to launch the 3D blaster in NZ. Ahh fun times.

Still my fondest memory is playing my bothers 3 years later, as I was struck down by Glandular fever. GT how I loved thee.

My first memory of the original PlayStation involved a five-year-old me cowering behind a thatched sofa bed, petrified, as I watched Resident Evil being played by my uncle. From then on I was hooked! Wasn't a week after that I had convinced my parents to get me one, coupled with Tekken (started my love affair with the series!) and Wipeout; even managed to sneak in an hour or two of Loaded here and there - unbeknownst to my parents!

WipEout and Ridge Racer were my first two PS1 games at launch, I'm one of those people that has never got rid of their games... apart from one, Krazy Ivan - good game but stupendously short. As for my foray into computers excluding PCs:

Acorn Electron - Sinclair Spectrum ZX81
Amstrad CPC - BBC Master (with the cheese wedged 1200 baud rate modem )
    NES - Sinclair Spectrum 128K+
    SNES
    Playstation 1 - Sega Saturn - Nintendo 64
Playstation 2 - Sega Dreamcast - Nintendo Gamecube
    Playstation 3 - PSP
PS Vita - Soon to be PS4

I've been a PC Gamer since the 80386 in 1987 - basically the last time I used the Spectrum 128K+.

Well to be fair in the video the PS1,2 and 3 scenarios were all just friends hanging out, where as with the PS4 the black guy was really excited to see the PS4 its like it was brand new. Hence only a few games.

But yeah this video was awesome

My God I didn't know AXE Body spray had been around that long. To think when I was in high school when the PS1 came out there were douche bag hipsters wearing AXE even then. So glad I missed that fad!

Great commercial but wow, I thought I was younger when the PS1 came out but damn, I was 23 and living on the west coast for grad school! I went the way of pong, Atari 2600, colecovision, commodore 64, NES with that robot, Sega, then PS1,2,3. I stopped at three kids, but damn I'm getting my fourth Playstation!
