Maths is biased! It keeps telling me the PS4 is 50% more powerful than XboxOne!

Haha that made me smile. In New Zealand there is a video rental place where I hired 3 generations of PlayStation games from.

I remember seeing the cinematic trailer for MGS for the first time and was always totally hyped at the end where he sets off all of the C4. Games like Resident Evil, FFVII, Tomb Raider and Gran Turismo would set trends that would branch out into the games we play today. Now here I am, about to partake in my 4th generation of PlayStation gaming. I kind of wish I could still visit that video rental store for my PS4 hires. Almost 20 years...

Wow, crazy to think we're approaching 4th gen of this brand already. I was 15 when the PS1 came out...man I'm getting old.

I was 20 when I get the PS1, now that's old! I still remember it to this day, I was helping my brother move at the time and had to take a break so I could run and pick up the system, once I had the box in my hand it seems like the rest of the day helping my brother took forever because I just wanted to go home and play it! Battle Arena Toshinden was the first Playstation game I ever played! What was yours?

First game I played? Toshinden...had to be. Played the PS1 kiosks that my local Blockbuster had up. I honestly wasn't very hyped for the PS1. I was a nintendo guy. I remember seeing magazines detailing how Sony was jumping into the fray and thought to myself "pfft, good luck....whats a tv manufacturer ever going to do that makes me trust them in the gaming market".

Then I saw FF7 was leaving nintendo and going to sony. That was the day I kissed nintendo goodbye forever. As for the first game I ever owned, would have to be Resident Evil 2. I bought the console and that game in anticipation for the release of FF7. Been with Sony ever since.

    edit:
wait something doesn't add up. RE2 released 98, FF7 in 97. Oh well, something like that. lol

    Man that video was great.

my first game was also Battle Arena Toshinden, kind of a fun game at the time since the whole graphical thing for home consoles was brand new to me. I did play the hell out of my N64 and PS1 though. 007 on the N64, damn if I didn't play that game with my friends for like 2 years straight. And the PS1 had so many games. While we also played the heck out of FF7, it was Twisted metal II and Tony Hawk pro skater. LOL

I honestly can't remember my first ever game on PS1, but the game I remember strongly from those days would be Metal Gear Solid. That game made me the gamer I am today.

Pretty nice even though I didn't join the PS family until the PS3. I moved to PC gaming in the early 90's and didn't return to Console until the PS3.

As a kid I was pretty hard core Nintendo, but once I started working I starting bringing in other consoles, but when the PS1 came out I was extremely excited for it, just seemed like a great console with great games, and it was! Here are the consoles I have gone through since I have been playing them:

    Atari 2600

    Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)

    Super NES & Sega Genesis

    N64, PS1, 3DO & Sega Saturn

    PS2, Dreamcast, Xbox & Gamecube

    PS3

PS4, Wii U (My Daughter's), Ouya (Great for Emulators!)

This doesn't factor in portable systems or PC gaming, I have also been PC gaming since the old 8088/80286 days...still waiting for Sierra to make a come back one day!

I've always only been a single console gamer. When I was too young to buy a console myself, my parents would only buy me one. And once I was old enough to start buying my own, I could only ever afford one. But now that I'm an adult capable of buying whatever I want, I've come to the conclusion I only really have need for one. Especially since I will always own a pc due to its versatility. So I technically always own a second gaming platform by default anyway.

So I grew up transitioning as follows:

    Atari 7800

    NES

    SNES

    N64 into PS1

PS2 (at one point I owned the original xbox, but not for very long. didn't much care for it)

PS3 (Wii in house because wife wanted it)

    PS4

Perhaps my biggest regret was selling off my older stuff. Especially the snes/n64/ps1 era. That was where I was just old enough to contribute my own money to these purchases. Getting the newest stuff usually meant I had to trade in the old stuff. Lost a lot of good games back then due to trade-ins.

Syphon Filter is another gem I wish they'd bring back. Along with Tenchu, Bushido Blade, Brave Fencer Musashi....the list goes on.

My parents would only buy one for me as well, the Genesis I had to save a lot of allowances for! Once I got a job when I was older is when I went console crazy, thus the N64, PS1, 3DO & Saturn! The 3DO was quite over-priced, but I did find several games on it that I really enjoyed playing, but the Saturn was probably my worst purchase I had ever done, I bought it on a whim and never actually bought anything but Virtua Fighter for it, the games just sucked IMO...but the Dreamcast I miss dearly, that was such a great system and it is sad it couldn't co-exist with the other consoles! Like yourself, I too sold off all my old consoles years ago and I still regret it to this day, but I am slowly starting to re-build the collection, but it just isn't the same, I took such great care of my hardware that it is near impossible to find the some stuff in the condition that I kept them in...wish I had a time machine...

Wow, that was actually a very good commercial.

I feel nostalgic, and smart boys playing Tekken.

Damn, I was like 9 when I first got my PS1.

First thing I tried was a demo disc that came with it. I still remember the menu music for it:

It had Tekken 2, Crash Bandicoot, Raystorm, Parappa the Rapper, Intelligent Cube and Armored Core on it. Good times.
