Dualshock 4 is compatible with the PS3

While it will work with the PS3, turns out you have to keep it wired for it to work...hopefully they will release a firmware update allowing it to sync to the PS3 as well!

    http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2013/10/...with-ps3s-too/

If you donít want a couple of additional controllers lying around your living room, then donít worry Ė your DualShock 4 controllers will also work on your PS3, though obviously wonít bring any of the additional touchpad functionality.

Note that this doesnít work wirelessly, so itís not an ideal solution, though perhaps means you can squeeze some extra life out of the multiplayer games on your PS3.
It also means that youíre able to use the DS4 with four devices Ė PS4, PS3, PS Vita TV and PC. And it is a lovely controller; from what Iíve experienced with it, I think Iíd definitely prefer to use it than the current DualShock 3.

It would have been nice if he mentioned they Select and Start button mapping. I assume it maps to share and options, but he didn't show it.

Yeah, I wish he would of brought that up as well, I just hope they have a firmware update to enable it to be used wirelessly, that would be great!

Nice, this will essentially give me a second PS3 controller for 2-player.

For the past 2 years I've been playing PS3 wired.... I for some reason like the feel of the controller being tethered, takes me back to the PS ONE and 2 days and it's comfortable for some reason, guess the pro is the battery is always charged and the input lag is non-existant.

Being able to play a back catalog of PS3 games with the new Dual Shock 4 controller is most welcome by me, improved comfort is awesome!!

@criharrr: Yeah, me too. When the batteries on my first PS3 controller died, I ended up with a wired solution. With an extension cord, it's ten times more practical than in the PS1/PS2 days!

It's useless if you have to hook it up with a cable for it to work. I grew out of controller cables long ago.

Some people still prefer cables, but like you I like to be wireless, I am hoping that Sony will add DS4 support in the next PS3 firmware update, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't want the controller being used on that system. Accessories = Lots of profit margin, and I know I will purchase extra DS4's for use with my PS3, Ouya and PC as well!

That's pretty cool, handy if you go round a mates house to play FIFA and you have the PS4 and they only have a PS3!

This is great! I wonder if GT6 will handle a little better with the DS4!

That's a good way to reduce the batterylife of your controller.
