[Debunked]Call of Duty: Ghosts PS4 Cover Jackets Show 49 GB Installation and More

    http://www.dualshockers.com/2013/10/...tion-and-more/

Want to see how the cover jacket of Call of Duty: Ghosts for PS4 looks? Now you can, even if not in English.Twitter user Bati, that works at the Spanish branch of the retailer Game, tweeted the picture above, showing the Spanish cover jackets of the PS4 version of the game, including the back of the cover, that was never seen before. From the picture we learn that the installation on the PS4′s hard disk will take at least a whopping 49 GB of space, meaning that the game’s Blu Ray is almost fully packed with data.As an added piece of bonus information Bati also mention that the jackets are “slightly bigger” than those of PS3 games.

    Damn son!

Just glad it installs while playing and not having to wait for 49GB to install.
Would be nice if it uninstalls when you exit the game to save on space.

This makes it really easy for me now. Not going digital. If this and KZ already confirm ~50gb installs.....theres no way I could deal with a HDD big enough.

This gen I owned roughly 85 retail games. ~50gb*85=4250gb. 4+tb drive. That doesn't even include downloadable titles. Naw. I'll stick with retail I think.

Are you people being serious?! The Blu Ray version will still ask you to install the 49GB on your HDD for optimal performance (hence the freaking cover). So you're in exactly the same boat as downloaders.

I'll take the bandwidth of a 6x BlueRay drive over my internet connection.. Not everyone can live in a web-hosting datacenter like you (apparently?).

People were complaining about limited HDD space rather than connection speeds, hence my statement. You'll run out of disk space just as quickly with the Blu Ray version.

    Such naïveté in here...

Not every retail game is going to force an install of nearly the entire game.

Nearly every title will give you an option though for best performance.

Having the option is not the same as not having the option...which is what going digital means. Granted, I'm making assumptions. I've not seen the back of every ps4 game to confirm they won't all have a massive mandatory install. Guess we'll have to wait and see what the trend becomes.

I for see an increase in sales for blu-ray drives for pc now....If games are filling up a dual layer blu-ray at launch, think there are going to be quite a few more multi disc games this gen. Final Fantasy for one.

For performance though, would hope that devs could make it so you can read from both the HDD and disc at the same time like we saw with GTA5. 6x Blu-ray is around 27MB/s, that could be quite handy for streaming.

    Debunked!
Yoshida first confirmed that Playstation 4 does automaic cashing to games, and its not the mandatory install. This is really huge news for Playstation 4, it basically mean, if you want to play CoD Ghosts and Killzone, you won't need 100GB of space (50GB each,) you'll just need 50GB to cache them. That's so cool!
    http://www.gamepur.com/news/12566-ne...-without-.html
Its the cache-ing size required. So unlike an install where each game has its alloted space, the same 50gb can be used for all games that need to cache the HDD
I wonder when a nuclear warhead goes off, does the frame rate of real life drop?

GAF is saying that Yoshida simply means that the games are installed as you play, instead of beforehand. So this might not be debunked.

install while playing is cacheing which is different from our normal installs. When you stop playing and insert a new game like KZ:SF it will also cache on the same HDD space COD used rather than another separate 50gb chunk

I can't imagine actual installs being mandatory. has to be a temporary paging file sort of thing

Your first sentence is correct, but the second sentence remains to be seen. Yoshida didn't say that himself.

Just glad i can change the hard drive easier than changing a light bulb.

any 1tb laptop size drive for £50. no problem. Move 500 gb in the ps4 into my ps3.
Maths is biased! It keeps telling me the PS4 is 50% more powerful than XboxOne!
Great song, should have more views :'(

well, even if each disk game DOES have a big install... you can always delete it later if you run out of room. The good thing about that is that when you pop in the game again it will do more background installing and won't use up bandwidth

At the New York City unveiling of the system, Cerny talked about PlayGo, the system by which the console will download digital titles even as they're being played.

"The concept is you download just a portion of the overall data and start your play session, and you continue your play session as the rest downloads in the background," he explained to Gamasutra.

However, PlayGo "is two separate linked systems," Cerny said. The other is to do with the Blu-ray drive -- to help with the fact that it is, essentially, a bit slow for next-gen games.

"So, what we do as the game accesses the Blu-ray disc, is we take any data that was accessed and we put it on the hard drive. And if then if there is idle time, we go ahead and copy the remaining data to the hard drive. And what that means is after an hour or two, the game is on the hard drive, and you have access, you have dramatically quicker loading... And you have the ability to do some truly high-speed streaming."
