A thread for the SNES, what games do you remember playing?

For me, the two that immediately come to mind are Super Mario World and F-Zero. We also owned The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Donkey Kong Country and Porky Pig's Haunted Holiday but I never got very far in those games. I also know there's a lot of love for Final Fantasy VI but I hadn't played it until much later through a friend (who also owned Final Fantasy IV) on my Game Boy Advance SP.

So yeah, I don't remember playing too many SNES games but, excluding Porky Pig, the ones I mentioned were pretty damn good. What a good time to start getting into games.

Good lord, I forgot to mention The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. I'm not a big fan of Zelda but I should still remember the rainy Hyrule and its soldiers.

Chrono Trigger is also good though I played the DS re-release.

    Snesbox?

My first encounter with gaming actually revolved around the Super Nintendo, but not as it's supposed to be used. I was being babysat by my uncle who brought over his SNES to tide him over (along with A Link to the Past and an Action Replay) for when I hit the hay, but for whatever reason he fired it up and I sat entranced at code entry part of the Action Replay - putting in random codes and watching them colourfully disappear when they were found to be incorrect. I found it hilarious, apparently!

In terms of games I properly played and loved:

    - Super Mario World/All-Stars/Kart/Doctor/Yoshi's Island.
    - Donkey Kong Country 1/2/3.
    - Aladdin.
    - Lion King.
    - Super Metroid.
    - F-Zero.
    - Battletoads.
    - Pilotwings.
    - FIFA.
    - Zombies Ate My Neighbours.
    - Super Smash T.V.
    - Turtles in Time.
    - Street Fighter II: Turbo.
    - Goof Troop.
    - The Legend of Zelda.

Loads more that I can't think of!

Rock n' Roll Racing. Nothing better than drifting corners to some Thorogood.

Super Empire series, Mario Cart battle mode, and Star Fox also come to mind.

Oh man. The very console that introduced my brother, sisters and myself to the beautiful world of gaming. Sister bought my bro a snes with street Fighter 2: Turbo! There was no turning back. Fond memories of:

    • Street Fighter obviously
    • Choplifter 3
    • Killer Instinct
    • Mortal Kombat, don't think we ever got further than about 5 fighters
    • Dino Dini's Soccer
    • Super Tennis
    • Ninja Warriors
    • Rival Turf
    • Mario Kart

Many more, but nothing that comes to the top of my head. Such a great little machine....... now I wanna go back!

You can relive the SNES memories on Snesbox which is an online browser emulator & it has practically every NES/SNES game that was out for both consoles

Anyways I found another Browser emulator which has Snes/N64/Dreamcast/PS1 & PS2 games which would be pretty awesome if it can run on the PS3/PS4 Browser

These games sum up my childhood. So many hours spent during the summer months pounding away on my SNES. I still recall the day I finally beat Link to the Past. It was my greatest accomplishment at that age, and I remember being so proud of myself too. Now I can beat that game in a few hours.

    11 years and counting!

Actually, I don't believe I ever finished it. I will one day. It'll require a weekend and a crate or two of beer, mind.
