Dualshock 4 Ext Port = Secret!

I do love me some secrets! I wonder what they have planned for that port...wonder if it has anything to do on the rumored VR headset they are working on! I know the official DS4 Charge Base uses that port, but it will be interesting to see what else they have planned for it!

Been wondering about that port after finding the charge port is in the front of the controller.

It's really not a secret. Some insiders know what plugs into that port . Weird thing is that its called Mynd .

You can charge the DS4 two different ways though, the Micro USB connection on the front of the controller or the EXT port near the bottom (using the DS4 charge base), but the EXT port has more than just that one use...

I tweeted at Shuhei on this 3 separate times, and never got a response. At least there's a response now. I still think it's going to be a 7.1 + Chat headphone connection. But it looks like they aren't ready for it yet. I was hoping it would be a launch item, but that's pretty much out the window now.

It would be cool if this is for the VR equipment they were rumored to show off back at TGS. Wasn't there also a rumor that PS4 has an Oculus Rift development tool?

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop? Yoshida knows, and he ain't tellin.

No way the Bluetooth data would be sufficient to handle video needed for a VR headset. It's enough for 7.1 audio and chat, but not much beyond that, and you're talking a couple orders of magnitude beyond that for a VR headset.

Note Sony has stated that the communication to the Controller is only Bluetooth. WiFi direct isn't supported by PS4 and you'd want something with that kind of data rate for a wireless communication to a VR headset.

I agree, there is no way Bluetooth could handle video, but it could be used to transmit all the head tracking data back to the console!

I just picked up my spare DS4 from Gamestop last night! I have to say, this controller is beyond comfortable, I didn't think it would be as awesome as I keep hearing, but it is incredibly impressive! My PS3's DS3 now feels rickety and cheap compared to the newer controller, if you haven't had to chance to hold one yet you are in for treat once you do!
