First Xbox One and Sony PS4 reviews appear in GQ Magazine

Finally they start pouring in...though I do not like the scores...

    http://www.t3.com/news/first-xbox-on...in-gq-magazine

The first Xbox One review and Sony PS4 reviewhas appeared courtesy of GQ magazine as the publication appears to have reviewed both in their 'The Lab' section giving both products a star rating. Both the Xbox One and the PS4 aren't actually available yet with the next-gen consoles getting aUK release date of late November, despite this GQ has gone ahead and given their verdict on the two consoles.
Of course the first thing you'll be wondering is which console got the higher score, and in GQ's opinion the Xbox One is the best console of the two getting 8/10 with the magazine praising the console's 'cloud processing' and the fact that it's a 'complete media device'.
The PS4 still performed well scoring 7/10 with it's 'stylish' looks and 'low cost' being both serious plus points, GQ criticised the fact that the PS4 will suffer from a lack of 'killer games' on launch.
Considering both reviews are pretty brief we'd probably say hold out for the raft of more in-depth reviews before making your mind up but it's an interesting first win for Microsoft who, up until now, has been suffering from a series of PR setbacks surrounding DRM and the fact the console is slightly more expensive than the PS4.

They're not totally wrong on the games front, DC being delayed and all.

I mean, if you're PURELY COUNTING numbers, then the XB1 has FM5 most definitely as a "killer title". Dead Rising 5 which can be construed as "killer titles". And not to mention Ryse which potentially could be great, and brought up at the tail end possibly by Killer Instinct (which I don't think will turn out as a "killer title").

So far, in terms of exclusives, Sony only has KZ SF which by all accounts from press, podcasts, fan previews etc, is the only dead-set "killer title". Knack potentially a good supporting title, but Driveclub missing launch was somewhat of a blow.

In saying all this, what these reviews don't equate, or know, is the future exclusives will almost likely/certainly be more in Sony's favour - due solely to their first party studios and IPs.

There is actually. They reviewed both systems on what they see in front of them, but for the Xbone, they seem to give them aces on cloud gaming which is unproven, at least from the MS side. While at the same time cut Sony for not having any worth while launch games. The two don't add up up mainly because, honestly, what is Sony known for? Most would say their 1st party development history. Why was that not included within the situation. I mean seriously this year Sony have several potention GOTY cannidates on their previous system but the potential does not get factored. While with MS, unproven technology. The biggest issue with MS that bothers me is that most think Azure 300K servers are dedicated to gaming, which is so untrue. MS is already using the server farm for developers outside of gaming. I received an email the other day asking me to take advantage of the Azure infrustructure and how most programmers are currently doing so. GQ missed a big one there. I posted the article because it was truly one of the first reviews and wanted to get everyones reaction.

Yeah that thing about praising the cloud yet ignoring Sony 1st party, as a logically thinking individual it doesn't make sense to praise one but not the other. Either do both or not at all.

But hey, we're talking about a specialist tech site here either. So take it for what it is folks.

Wow, I wonder if the Equire Network will bring back G4 and review the systems for Microsoft too?

Praised it's entirely unrealized and untested cloud computing and being a complete Media Device that only wants to share things with the failing Surface and Windows Phone platforms?

    That's complete?

Lol@GQ. I'd take a review by the salvation army more seriously than GQ. Cretins of the highest order.

You know being someone that's bought countless different types of magazines over the years from WH Smiths, I have yet to ever hear or know or even see a magazine called GQ!

Why is everyone so hung up on launch games?
It not what's out now, before the consoles are even available"
It's what's kinds of games each console is known for having and so y IMO has wayyyy better games overall.

Launch games help the casuals decide what console they are going for, so whilst they may not mean $#@! to you, they are quite important to others...personally, kz ain't gonna do jack $#@! for me...just another shooter with tarted up gfx. Cod ghosts? Yawn...bf4? Yeah. It'll do to start...
