NPD results for March are out. March 2013 they sold 80,000 Wii U's. March 2014 they sold 70,000 Wii U's. Additionally March this year was a 5 week month for the NPD numbers. Lower sales and an extra week. Mario Kart comes out in May so this month will probably be another dismal sales month for Nintendo. Who knows how many consoles they'll push in May. It could be as many as a million with MK8 but more realistically we'll be looking at 200-500k. If MK8 sells less than 200k consoles in May then I'm 99.99% sure that the Wii U will be over.

Wonder if new hardware announcement at E3 is out of the question.
I suspect the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. being released in "Winter 2014", much later than the 3DS version, isn't going to help turn things around.

I hate how these charts present themselves so i will just ask. How many Wii Us have sold to consumers right now?
the problem is that nintendo is persistent and they will figure out a way to do well with their next console. they might already have figured it out (we learned recently remember?)
so why is that a problem? because they may (may) continue to stay afloat but still unpopular in third party games. i don't know why developers keep supporting Nintendo's home consoles. they should move to PS4/X1 as well. more games for us. it's like i want those games but i don't want their consoles.
The WiiU is going to fall flat on its face soon. 1st party is its life support and they have been releasing some heavy hitters. The only problem with that is it's not moving consoles. Nintendo will eventually have to stop development in order to move to their next console. The WiiU is dead once that happens.
Nintendo, being stuck in their ways, are running the risk of going though these struggles next gen too.

oh i never said Wii U was going to do well. what i meant was that they will figure out how to survive next console. they already have come up with (what i think is) a great idea.
i'm glad you asked. they have come up with an idea where all games will be transferrable easily between their home and handheld platforms. which imo is a big deal, a huge deal. because i don't like handhelds and i've always wanted to play nintendo's handheld games.
now with next-gen, they will combine the both (and before you say it's just like the PS4/PS3/PS1 with the PSP/Vita), it's really not. Sony couldn't do this if they wanted to. why? because their focus is on power, you can't do this if your focus is on power. because in order for Vita to have the same games PS4 has, they would have to make the Vita a dozen time more powerful and it would cost hell of a lot more than it does now. so not possible.
and before you say, but we can do that already, it's called remote play, yeah, but not the same thing. you need a PS4 to do this (a free PS4 that is not being used might i add lol), with this idea, you can have a home console and play handheld games. now this also means that not all games may be cross-buy but we'll see, they found a way to have similar architecture but just different power levels. so once there's enough support, Nintendo's way is superior.
however if you have a PS4, you can play them through Vita which is cool but it's only fun in a limited way, it's not a proper way to play and i'd rather just play my PS4 games on my PS4. now if I could play my Vita games on my PS4, that'd be something similar to Nintendo's idea.
some guy posted an article about it a month or so ago. check the nintendo section. his name is parallax.
I'm caught up now.
Miyamoto: "As we move forward, we're going to look at what we can do to unify [our console and portable] development environments."Similar architecture but just different power levels
