    DS4 custom painted controller

I got a new DS4 controller, since I'll be needed an extra one anyways. I decided to paint it and it actually came out great! Green is one of my favorite colors and I always like that camouflage flat green. So I decided to go with that. Here's my work.

    Taken apart

    Done

This is what I used to paint it. Since I wanted to make it smooth and keep it flat color
I found these at Home depot

IF you have any questions feel free to ask. Thanks.

Solid job. I've been debating doing that with mine. I've just been playing with it to much. I'll probably paint the one that comes with the system.
What's the point in having an Internet connection if you're not using it to look up weird, ****ed-up pictures of dirty sex you'll never have yourself?

    Nice!

I hope that one day a brave soul will post a video on how to do this.

Thank you guys. The hardest part was taking it apart. The whole process took about 45 minutes.

Do you have to sand it a bit or can you apply the paint straight to it?

I sand it with the finest sand paper they had. I think it was a 600. Just sand it a bit, then I applied the paint, I did only two coats of it and one of clear coat.

The idea of sanding it when you've got no clue, shudder-inducing! This looks brilliant, though. Fair play!

Looks pretty nice. I'd love to see a video of the work in progress.

Thank you guys. I took a change and it came out better than I thought. My friend thought they were selling actual color controllers when I showed him. I'm thinking of painting the ps4 glossy black cover as well to match. I'll see, but I'm really happy with the results. The hardest part was taking it apart, the painting was easy.

Well, if you like it then that's what matters. You did a fine job. But I think the dark green is really ugly. I would have made it a deep blue or purple, or a light red.

Broke my DS3 yesterday so i'll do this to it as a trial run to see if it'll work for me, not very good with sprays.

Surely painting the console would cause problems with the warranty if you had a problem with it down the line? Nice job on the ds4 though not a hope in hell I would even attempt it

Even the cover that just holds the HD? It would be like putting a sticker on it. I guess if that's the case i'll leave it alone. Also, before I painted the Controller I tested on an old wire controller I had, to make sure the color was what I wanted and the texture was smooth. Since it came out good I did it on the DS4.

Never took the ps3 apart but can remember having to take the top off the ps2 and there was a void sticker attached to the inside of it

I've been thinking about doing the same with mine. Though I save my Camo Green for Geocaches, yes I'm a geocacher, if you don't know what it is, then google it. I've got some nice high gloss Canary Yellow that I may use.

That's a very useful video. I didn't follow anything just figure it can't be that hard. I took plenty of electronics apart. I'm not sure how the texture of that white one feels but looks great too. I don't like glossy finishes, bit on that white doesn't seem glossy. Anyone who wants to try it, it is not hard at all. I sanded mine so the paint sticks to it better.

doesn't the custom job mess up the grip of the controller. I would think it would cause more sweat once you get into it

Yes you are right in a way. when I painted it without the clear coat. It felt a little rough and my hand was imprinted with sweat a bit fast. So, I found the clean matte coat and now it feels smooth like when I bought it and I don't sweat much at all. I've been using it with the PS3 with some games. Again, with the clear coat is better.
