Why Call of Duty Ghosts is 720p on Xbox One and 1080p on Playstation

Interesting....... Rubin also states that some people say that the XBONE is producing better textures over the ps4 but this shouldn't come at a shock. Lower resolution means that you can focus more on each pixel.....

    Your thoughts?

I perosnally think this is more telling....

A lot of people are taking this as confirmation that Xbox One is the weaker console and PS4 is more powerful. Is it that simple?

Itís a much more complex answer Ė thereís so much to it, itís a balancing act when you get into optimisation Ė we need more time with it all, basically. It could be years from now until we get to the point where we feel like weíve maxed out what we can do on both platforms.

And itís not just hardware physically, the amount of resources that each system is allowing the game developers to use isnít the same. So from our standpoint thatís something that could change, yíknow? We might get more resources back at one point. And that could make things change dramatically for the Xbox One, for instance. Itís a long complicated road that will take years to develop, and I think at the end weíll have games looking very similar, usually, on both systems.

yer but I think its been confirmed that 5 gb will be available to games for X1, plus 512 mb for "flexible memory" isn't this similar to the ps4?

Its not just RAM though, the multiple OS's take a bit of the gpu cpu as well. Plus contention for the DDR3 bandwidth.

You forgot to mention the part where he said that in order to get the Xbone version running smooth at 60fps it had to be in 720p. If we're going to talk about what he said lets talk about EVERYTHING he said instead of just the part that you cherry picked out of it. And who are the "some people he refers to?" Random forum goers? lol Sounds like politically correct PR to me. Afterall he wants the Xbone version to sell good as well.

i think the textures could be a result of the XB1's up-scaler. the BF stills of the XB1 version look very nice....not so much in motion due to the aliasing, but c'est la vie. the up-scaler is doing a very good job nonetheless.

It all boils down to optimization and utilising the ESRAM effectively, in conjunction with direct X. So far imo this has not been the case, IW have contradicted themselves, they have said the x86 bit architecture is so easy to develop for etc, but how come they are stating they are just learning the console and will get better at optimization etc. Something doesn't add up, either the X1 is harder to develop and they are having trouble and don't want to admit or the X1 is simply not powerful enough to run at native 1080p.........

Don't khow about "someone" could be anyone with no credibility

Yep I pretty much agree with you there. Time will tell us which of those reasons it is.

Freeing up that 10% reserved GPU wouldn't half go a long way either.
