Call of Duty Ghosts ps4 reviews point technical frame rate issues

    http://gearnuke.com/call-duty-ghosts...e-issues-game/

So basically we have COD Ghosts running at 720p with a constant 60fps on X1 whilst ps4 is 1080p with frames rates dipping below 60fps in some areas. Something tells me that IW were rushed and not telling the truth....

    Your thoughts on this debacle?

where is the XB1 confirmation of constant 60fps?

regarding the PS4 though, there is little outside of resolution between COD next/current gen. BF4 maintains 60, more or less, and does significantly more.

consider it poor coding on IW's part.

Isnt it on Rubins Tweet where he said we ran at 720p to have "constant" 60 frame rate on X1. But didn't he say this also for ps4? Now I am not sure, that could imply anything.....

Perhaps they should've made it 900p and up-scaled it. Don't know about you guys but i'm sensitive to frame rate dips and they bug the hell out of me.

ah, i see. haven't been following the head to heads lol

    but it is confusing nonetheless.

BF4 runs at 30fps, lower detail, and 720p on PS360. On PS4 it runs at 60FPS, higher detail, and 900p.

COD on the other hand has both current/next gen at same 60 fps, same detail, with the only difference coming from the screen res...something's not right

IW messed something up. and the reviews are unclear on exactly where the slowdowns are happening. there should be minimal slowdown during scripted events as they're scripted. pre-determined if you will. they should run within the engines capabilities. as that's achieved on lesser hardware....

Yer I know right, but it seems that they are developing for current generation of consoles then porting them using the same engine to X1 and ps4. So far I cant see ANY optimisation happening especially with X1. Possibly just running oFf raw power, possibly mistaken if I might add.

They didn't, and if you look at the sites that have the the previews/reviews you will find that the Xbone wasn't included in the scope. So I sort of understand why this article was made, because the main focus was on the PS4, but if you also look at where the issue apply, it is usually at a checkpoint or something, if I am not mistaken. The frame rate drop does not take place during basic gameplay. With that said, it seems that this can be fixed with a patch.

So for those who are wondering, its not the hardware; its more of a software issue.

Go play Lair. Then go play Killzone 2. Then go play Uncharted 3. Then go play The Last of Us. I wouldn't sweat any issues, frame rate or otherwise, in token ports already sitting on store shelves 10 days before the North American launch date, even longer for Europe.

COD Ghosts PS4 and Xone are so they can claim a COD title at the launch of the consoles. The new gen consoles that constitute the installed base during the Ghosts launch window aren't anywhere near the principal markets. If they were, that would be tantamount to Activision saying, We don't want to make any money off COD this year. And Activision, they ALWAYS want to make tons of money off COD games. If they could, if they thought the market would bear it, they'd have four COD teams and put out a new COD game every quarter.

I must admit IGN have covered every mission from COD: Ghosts on the PS4 and from watching that I can't see hardly any frame rate issues, maybe I jumped the gun a little there!

Also I am trying to complete the last of us before the PS4 comes out, I have just made it though the sewer, how much further do I have left to go?

The frame rate issues could be from loading off disc or HDD during campaign. Who knows. They could be bona fide frame rate stability issues that will be fixed in other games, later games, maybe even a patch to this game. But it's not even early days. It's BEFORE early days.

The Last of Us, if it's where I think you are, you're a little under halfway through the campaign. How long left depends on how you play. Me, I wander off and look at stuff and sometimes take on combat set-pieces with rushed or plain stupid tactical decision. So by halfway through the game I bet I had about another 10 hours. Smoother players would have about another 7 hours. Rougher players or total completion types, maybe 12 - 14 hours.

I'd say, again if "the sewers" are what I think you're talking about, an hour a day of progress, you'll finish at least a day or two before PS4 launch day. In the States. If you're in a Nov. 29 launch region, you'll finish way ahead, no problem.

What does it matter it is a fps and it isn't like the story matters.

The framerate issues are not in the multiplayer, it's just the campaign that has that issue. Which is good, since I only play MP on CoD, same with BF4.

I'm in the UK so have a little bit more time to complete it, I suppose a more accurate description would be I have just passed the point where the guy and his son leave you on the bridge so Ellie decides to jump off into the water and you follow, then get saved by the same guy and his son who looked like they have abandoned you. Then you go through what I at least think are sewers where you get split from Ellie and have to escape with the dudes son instead, now I have just reached that cut scene where they close the door and outside on the wall it warns them of infected inside, does that sound a bit better lol?

I'd qualify that with COD "is FPS mostly focused on online multiplayer." BioShock was FPS. Story mattered. Story was half the whole works. The gameplay mechanics were well-implemented but derivative and fairly dated. If it weren't for the exceptional backstory and strong narrative, it wouldn't have been anywhere near the hit it was. I'd say it wouldn't have been a hit at all. It would have been Singularity. A niche favorite, but hardly a blockbuster.

Besides, you can tell a good story with any sort of game mechanics. But FPS is probably one of the easier ways to do it. RTS is one of the most difficult. Shooters get a lot of sideways looks because much of their appeal is visceral. But the same goes for some of the most popular movies every made. At its core, if you graft game mechanics onto film styles, Star Wars was a shooter. So was, for the most part, Goodfellas.

Right about bang on halfway through, by chapter count. Again, actual play time will depend on how you approach things and other factors. But you've got almost a month. Even pretty casual commitment every week, I can't imagine you won't finish.

I am sorry but my stepson has a ton of these COD games and I dont see the reason everyone is so juiced on them. They look the same from game to game. The single player is dreadfully short and multiplayer full of foul mouth teens. Maybe I am just old but to me they are like Madden football games were every year or 6 months it seems in COD world people buy the same game with one new feature that no one really uses in the first place.

Cross-gen title from Infinity Ward.. I didn't expect any less. All in all, a good effort from them.
