I didn't see this rumor posted here, but yeah, Yoshida squashed it faster than a Putty.

Actually, it isn't "debunked". He confirmed that PS+ can be $120 per year.

Yes, but I could also say PS4 games run at 480i if I manage to connect the thing to an 80's TV.

There'll inevitably be a couple of people who'll somehow do it on a month-by-month, not knowing they can avail of the $50 version. I for one will be buying a one-year subscription before I've even bought a game. :3

That would be relevant if the rumor was that the PS4 will only run @480i and Yoshida answers that it will only run at 480i if you connect it to a tv that only supports that resolution.

My sub auto renews yearly lol. I've had it since it launched, minus a six month hiatus.

On the US ps plus site there is only 2 options advertised, $17.99 per 3 months or $49.99 per year.

I know in the UK its like 5.49 a month, or 11.99 per 3 months or 39.99 per year.

Maths is biased! It keeps telling me the PS4 is 50% more powerful than XboxOne!

If it wasn't for an error with my PS3 I would've jumped on it, too. Won't be making the same mistake twice that's for sure!

Even if PS+ was 120 dollars a year, its totally worth it. Look at the games that are coming free this month alone. Dragons Dogma dark arisen, Soul Sacrifice, Resogun, those 3 titles alone i would spend 100 dollars on. I went back and added up the cost. Ive already downloaded over 400 dollars worth of free stuff since i signed up for PS+ at the end of the spring. 120 bucks a year? id still pay it.

There are a couple of good reasons to choose monthly. You want to try it a couple months for $10 per month, but not have the whole $50 invested if you don't like it or don't use it. You use the PS+, or XBL for that matter, services only erratically, maybe you play the console only erratically, and lapsing and renewing only when you want to use the services, your net annual cost comes out less than $50. A variety of discounted options for longer terms of service is common with any subscription service, back to newspapers and magazines. The best deal for a whole year is obviously a year's subscription for $50, but the subscription provider gets substantial benefit from that arrangement, too. They get the whole year up front, and one instance of processing overhead per year. Sony can afford to provide PS+ and make the money on it they want to make at $50 per year billed in monthly installments, but only if everyone stays signed up for the whole year. That would require a binding 12-month contract, which adds much greater complexity to the administration of the subscription.

Pretty sure that Sony confirmed the price already at E3. This is just a retarded rumor.

http://us.playstation.com/psn/playstation-plus/ This is what he linked to. States 50 a year.

In that case 3 month subscription is ultimate deal. I can't invest 50 euro at once myself, but 17 is not hurt much and give you lots of content.

Me, I'm doing the US$50 annual. Between myself and two sons, we'll use it enough. But it's all about options in premium-service marketing. Some people prefer to pay more for at least the illusion that the extra expense gives them greater control in the arrangement.
