    Minecraft

Has anybody heard anything about the upcoming Minecraft PS3 edition? My boy is wanting it for Christmas and I'm trying to start getting things together a bit. I haven't heard anything about it since it was announced. Same with the PS4 version, I did hear it was supposed to be a launch game but considering the size of the games following I'm surprised its been so quiet. Apologies if this is a duplicate thread, i couldn't find anything on the first page. I'm new here and resurrecting a zombie thread is considered extremely bad manners on some of the forums I've been on in the past!

I don't think anything specific has been released about the PS3 version. The wiki holds almost nothing.

On a side note, do you have a decent/good computer? If so, Minecraft is infinitely superior on it than the consoles. Mods are what really make the game, adding months or even years of longevity to it.

I have an ancient coal fired desktop and a netbook that is about as underpowered as the 1.3 litre Ford Sierra was back in the 80's, so no! He currently plays Pocket Edition on the iPad so anything will be an improvement over that.

Just to add my two cents, the latter isnt entirely true.

Vanilla minecraft will get months or even years of longevity just the same. It all depends on the players imagination. I've never used anymore than a texture pack, minimap mod, and a "more info" mod to make light level, FPS, etc. easier to tell. Granted the last two years have been spent on multiplayer/running servers, but still.. I've never used any of those fancy mods that supposedly make the game better. (IMO, they dont)

Now to answer the OP, nothing has been stated but I honestly wouldn't consider the PS3 version. The PS4 version will no doubt have bigger maps, and will be infinitely better regardless. Assuming you're getting a PS4 by Christmas, that is.

I'll be getting a PS4 on release, its for my boy who has a 320GB slim though. Also, I've promised my daughter my 40GB fat boy once the PS4 is here, I'm hoping to buy a digital version and download it on both consoles..

Apologies for posting this in the wrong place BTW!

Not everyone wants or needs mods, no, but Minecraft is still superior on the PC for many reasons, mods being one of them. That was my point. I'm also saying that a game with more content and gameplay options offers greater enjoyment and longevity, which is perfectly logical and reasonable. You're basically stating that less content can offer the same quality experience and gaming time, which is simply not true at all.

And you really don't think there are any mods make the game better? I can't even play vanilla any longer because it's so boring. Right now me and my cousin have a space station in orbit where we can dock our ships after visiting other planets and moons. Down on Earth we have a power plant running our machines using nuclear and solar power. The game is way more fun and interesting.

Everything is superior on the PC, it goes without saying really.

Nothing about the PS3, PS4 or Vita versions has been said other than all 5 versions are being developed by 4J Studios, so the Vita version will also be an improvement over the pocket edition which will be the version I buy.
