That's completely subjective. Also, not everyone is into these types of games. I haven't played it at all, so I can't give an opinion, but I can't say I won't give it a try, but Crytek hasn't been a company that's blown me away with gameplay or engaging story lines. I don't mind press and go games like this... I really loved Shenmue and Heavenly Sword was pretty great. Assassin's Creed is similar to this as well... so I can't really say how this will turn out. But this is far from the best looking game... to me. I really want to see what Naughty Dog can pull off.

I disagree. Completely subjective. For me its Killzone SF. We all have our opinions.

Well that was the final blow this game needed. All those "This was an old build" and "trailer does not showcase the true game accurately" excuses were just that, excuses. Now I have no hope for this.
Can this get any worse. I mean I know u guys will reserve judgement until you play the game. But damn..

    I LOL'd.

Dan Ryckert is a good voice in game criticism, and it's funny to hear everything I've been thinking about this game, as an outsider, from someone who had a chance to go hands-on.

Not like I'm getting an Xbox One at launch anyway, but always glad to hear about something I don't have to spend money on.

I'm glad someone else liked that one, first thing that entered my mind, and i'm admittedly a bit silly, lol.

It is a bit disappointing if something that good looking with that kind of control is boring.

It reminds me of the TNA Wrestling game... all we needed was a controls editor function to rearrange the buttons and it would have been a wholly more playable title.

I just hope this reviewer is in well enough that his rep can keep MS from trying to get at him for bashing their big title in the magazine Gamestop shoves down everyone's throats (meaning there's ALOT of the expected user base that just read this title is paint by numbers).

I think so too. Much better than when they showed it at E-3. I'm intrigued by the main character's story.

The instruction video talking about flow? How can it have flow when all I see is it pausing for a second or so every few blows the player deals to enemies.

They do mention get your attacks right and you get XP, so I guess that's your incentive to not simply button mash perhaps?

So, trying to figure it all out.. it isn't all just "push button when it tells you to". Right? It looks like Assassins Creed combat and then timing and button presses for executions... right? HELP ME!! Lol

It's a launch title that is designed to look pretty, and that's it.
I was expecting nothing more than a cheesy story and a very depressing combat system.
It looks I wasn't to far off. lol!

If you're buying this for the combat then you'll be left disappointed. It's a button smasher. They're "trying" to make it have a deep combat sytem but ultimately it's not rewarding outside of a few extra xp. You can screw up and still pull off executions as if nothing happened. The combat seems more in line with batman than assassins creed. Batman combat looks more jerky than Assassins creed's flowing combat.

I think a lot of people are going to be left feeling like the paragraph below. Pretty game with dull, repetitive gameplay.
After jumping through a few levels in the campaign, I grew tired of the gameplay loop of moving from area to area in order to kill the next group of barbarians. Ryse never hit a good stride and, in my brief amount of time with it, was all too content to beat me into submission through combat sequences repeated ad nauseam. The game offered little hope its campaign is intent on presenting anything to the contrary.

What now? Batman combat is fluid. AC's is jerky and you have little control.

I dunno.. I love the way it looks. I wonder if there will be a demo or something.. crap. I don't wanna spend $60 on a game and then not like it.

Seems like a fun game to play in short bursts.

Maybe whenever you're feeling pumped, grab a Monster energy drink and play an hour of Ryse? That's what I did when God of War came out.

Lol yep. Sometimes I'd play GoW after a bad day or when I'm pissed. Works quite well actually, especially on easy.

When batman fights, his momentum shouldn't allow certain movements to be performed. There's not enough animations to compensate for being attacked from behind with out magically doing a 180 out of punching and not have it look jerky. Assassin Creed compensates for those attacks and have appropriate animations to make it look more real.

Sure. Maybe animations-wise. But I was speaking to gameplay and control.

AC, when you want to try and pull off something, it doesn't always quite do it (nothing to do with skill, just pure luck and timing sometimes). The Batman thing I can sort of understand, but to me, it looks like they 'attach' more or less seamlessly.

Or don't notice, or care to.
