Not weird, to each their own. But when people act like it's only a game console, tgen you miss the big picture on the "entertainment system" that the ps3 is and the ps4 should be.

Again since when did the PS3 allow you to use your music while playing a game?

About 4 years ago I believe...It is an option for developers to use and does not work on every game.
What's the point in having an Internet connection if you're not using it to look up weird, ****ed-up pictures of dirty sex you'll never have yourself?

4 reasons I'm not buying a PS4 any time soon are: no BC, no free online, no DLNA, and this. I still can't believe they dropped CD support and now MP3s altogether for Music Unlimited and no doubt wanted to do the same to blu rays and DVD for Video Unlimited. Sorry but fuck all these pay walls and other bullshit the PS4 can wait I'll just stick with my other systems. Not as bad as MS but they're really starting to get more and more like them.

The original Xbox had universal custom soundtracks. The PS3 not having the feature was already bad, but the PS4 not having it is ridiculous.

However, the PS4 does have custom soundtracks. It's just that you have to use Music Unlimited to do it.

Don't really bother me, my receiver plays music so I'm fine
Games like NFS thou it'll be missed but not much, I never played music over a game which isn't supposed to have music/songs tracks, like I wouldn't play music while playing Killzone online, but it would be nice to have the option.

I'm not missing anything. I just don't care. I don't keep my systems hooked up to a screen that we watch TV on because my girlfriend can't watch TV if I'm gaming. I don't use it for anything other than gaming. All of the other entertainment stuff that both companies are pushing are available to me through my PC, my laptop, or my iPad.

    Neither do I.

I'm still getting a PS4. I'm just not paying for Music Unlimited.

Sony recently revealed that the PS4 will NOT support audio CDs & MP3 in their PS4 FAQ here:
    http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/...merica/#sect10

It appears that Sony has taken this step in order to force PS4 owners who wish to listen to music (on their PS4) - to pay for a Music Unlimited subscription.

I'm a current subscriber to Music Unlimited & I enjoy this service on my PS3 - however, I also have a large collection of audio CDs & MP3 files that I enjoy listening to on my PS3. It makes me very upset & angry (as a loyal Sony Playstation customer) to learn that the PS4 will not support audio CDs & MP3s. Therefore, I have canceled automatic renewal of my Music Unlimited subsbsription and I will not renew until Sony restores audio CD & MP3 support to the PS4.

THIS IS THE REASON THAT I'M CALLING ON ALL OF MY FELLOW SONY PLAYSTATION CUSTOMERS, WHO DON'T CURRENTLY HAVE A MUSIC UNLIMITED SUBSCRIPTION, TO NOT PURCHASE ONE UNTIL SONY OFFICIALLY REVERSES ITS POSITION AND RESTORES AUDIO CD & MP3 SUPPORT TO THE PS4. ALSO, I'M CALLING UPON ALL CURRENT MUSIC UNLIMITED SUBSCRIBERS TO CANCEL AUTOMATIC RENEWAL UNTIL SONY OFFICIALLY REVERSES ITS POSITION AND RESTORES AUDIO CD & MP3 SUPPORT TO THE PS4.
you pay for music unlimited what do you expect can't you just use a cd player for example

    Interesting article here Nov.4th

    http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/...tute-dlna-ps4/

The recent revelation that the PlayStation 4 will not support DLNA media sharing appears to be under review by Sony, judging by tweets from Sony execs and an update to the recently released PS4 FAQ. The FAQ was the original source of the news that the soon-to-release console would not allow DLNA sharing, but there’s now an asterisk added to that section, giving fans hope.

In the part of the FAQ asking if the PS4 will support media servers, the reply now reads:

The PS4 system does not support client functionality* for media servers.

The new footnote, which was added at some point over the weekend reads:

*We appreciate your feedback and are exploring possibilities.

In his Twitter feed, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida also seemed open to the possibility of adding this feature to the PS4. Hundreds of Twitter users sent tweets to Yoshida, some of them simply asking why the feature won’t be included, while others were a bit less civil. The general consensus though, was that fans consider this a backwards step for PlayStation. In response, on October 30, Yoshida tweeted:

“Thanks for the feedback to the lack of MP3 and DLNA support at the launch of PS4. I’ll share with the PS4 Dev team for future consideration”

The PS4 never officially had DLNA functionality, but the PlayStation 3 did, and it was considered one of the best media servers on the market. Sony has made no secret that it may make changes through updates, and this could be one.

"I think all those developers who are saying, "We don’t want to do a PS3 game," or "It’s really difficult to do it," should shut up and make their games. If you have time to complain about it, then you should be spending your time working on getting the most from the hardware."

I feel for you, I really do but.... Hell no!

I have well over 500 songs set in different playlists, just those would total to 645$ in i-tunes MP3 library... I still have access to many, many, many more (over 22 million?) And I can use it across all my devices at no extra cost, no storage necessary!

Now let's see... 645$ would give me 12 years of music unlimited at 50$/year for those 500 songs, imagine if I add 500 more to my playlists!

Like I said, sorry if it inconveniences you but to me, music streaming is more worth it than being able to play CD's or MP3's on my PS4. Damn, I can't remember when I purchased my last CD!?!?!

    Next Gen top picks:

    One: Project spark, Forza 5

My cousin has the service and it's really good, he's found a bunch of new music as well and listens to bunch of his favorites. I may consider buying it since it seemed like Sony's pandora

But some of us already own a ton of music. It's one of my favorite hobbies. And now I can't use that for PS4's custom soundtracks. I'd have to use whatever is in Music Unlimited, which is missing a lot of my music.

This reminds me of the people who said they didn't care about cross game chat but really did lol

Bottom line is this is definitely a step backwards from the PS3, I mean it should at the very least be able to play CDs, the most basic function of anything that can read discs, even if it can't rip them.

Because, there not giving you any other option.
Forcing you to pay money to enjoy something thats free other places is stupid, you can get Pandora for free and thats just as good.
I will never pay for any of Sonys BS services.
