When do you think COD, AC, Madden, etc. will stop making current gen versions?

I was just wondering when you guys thought the yearly franchises would stop making current gen versions. Battlefield and COD Ghosts look especially terrible on current gen this year what will it be like next year?

They'll stop making them when they become unprofitable I guess... I seem to recall reading about FIFA 14 being released on PS2 this year..

I say 2016 or beyond, the PS4 and X1 will be more mainstream and cheaper by then!

Sports franchises will appear for years to come, but annual shooters may last at most three years methinks.

To be fair don't EA still make FIFA for PS2?

Yup, and I think FIFA 14's actually the last PS2 game to be produced. In Europe only, most likely.

My guess is 2014 for all Multi-plats except Fifa, but they will cut the Online support.

it's possible sports games might still get more support but i think shooter games will need to cut support soon. COD might not because their base doesn't care much about graphics. however, BF will need to because their game generally tends to push the hardware.

I think EA said they would continue to support current-gen platforms until 2016 or so.

I would say two to three more years max.

I think NCAA Football lasted until 2010, Madden until 2011 and FIFA is still going strong. Since COD is online it's tough to look at the past to determine how long it might last, since PS3 was really the first online system for Sony.

But to mimic others, until it's no longer profitable.
