    DS4 Analog Stick Problem?

Hey guy, I got my DS4 over a week ago and I have been using it a lot. I notice today the the rubber is peeling. I wonder if this is going to be an issue going forward.

I might not have my thumb where they expect people to have it. I put most of the pressure from my thumb on the spot that is peeling.

Anyways, anyone else have this happen to their DS4 yet?

    Close up

    UPDATE
    ------------------------

The controller has gotten worse. These are the new pics. I do want to point out that the controller that came with the system is completely fine and I use them both equally. So it seems the problem I've run into is only with the controller I purchased separately.

Looks like the heat of your thumb rubbed it off a little.
I hope its not an issue for everyone.
I'll just buy some rubber grips for it if so.
I use some really nice feeling ones on my 360 pad and they feels way better than ANY other pad I've felt.

Hopefully it's just an exception and not common place. I wouldn't expect it to peel like that with even with using a lot of thumb pressure.

You may want to try to get a hold of Sony on this.

Hmmm, interesting. It does seem like the rubber doesn't hold up long; going by that pic. I hope that isn't something commonplace come a week from now.

Maybe after launch I'll see if it gets bad or kind of smooths out.

The way the rubber is rolled up, to me it looks like thats where his thumbs pushes the stick forward.

I'd definitely put this down to the friction caused by your thumb rolling on the edge of that stick. Whether this becomes a common problem, we'll have to wait and see.

The left stick on mine is already building up a deep ring on it, as long as the top does not peel off I'm good

I don't mind this over time, in just days though, it shouldn't peel like an eraser. I hope it's not a widespread issue.

Same problem reported on PS Magazines youtube show PS4 O'clock:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsSKZfCKxXA

Sounds like this could be a real issue and would need to be addressed quick if it is, although the other guy did say that he did not have the same problem whilst he was using the DS4 for hours!

That's a really great video actually. Laughed at the comment on the touchpad sensitivity "....within about 2mm of thumb travel you've gone from out of space to right up someone's nostril..."

    Damn excited for my PS4!!!

I might not have my thumb where they expect people to have it. I put most of the pressure from my thumb on the spot that is peeling.
I'd exchange that as a manufacturing defect. If it happens again with the new one you'll have to use grips or just put up with it until Sony fixes the issue. But that's far and above normal wear and tear for a week, no matter how much you used it or where you put your thumbs.
