I am so glad I am waiting.
Why do colors seem to pop more on the Xbox one version? Why are these machines so similar, but vastly different in video capture?

There is a color difference, which I'm putting down to the video capture card at this point, that or the 64 bit color format of the XBO.
    Too early to tell.
Actually after watching the video again, there seems to be no ambient occlusion on the PS4 version@1:24 of the IGN video. I imagine the final version will have it.

"why do colors seem to pop more on the Xbox one version?" I don't know, maybe because the color on the Xbox One version is much more different than the color on the PS4 version. The cars are different colors with different materials man. LOL

I'm just going to stop responding to stupid comparison videos until they are done right. I have yet to see a proper comparison video and anyone watching that video can clearly tell that it's not a proper comparison. my goodness

I'm shocked Mynd. The fact that you are trying to correct people when positivity hits the PS4 and if they put out potentially bunk comparisons or information and yet you seem to completely dismiss that in the comparison. o_O

I'm sorry, i just can't let this go. I saw this and i thought, wait leave it, it's no biggy.

But alas, misinformation is not cool. To begin with - there is no such thing as 64-bit colour at our current level of technology, either in direct colour or indexed colour measurements. The most advanced depth of colour we can currently achieve is 48-bit (Direct Colour); which comprises over a billion colours. In terms of Indexed Colour, you can have 1 - 12 bit colour channels (and as far as i know there are no monitors that can display 12-bit indexed colour, nor any hardware that can produce signals with a 12-bit indexed colour depth). To claim that the Xbox One has 64-bit colour is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard in my life, i almost fell off my chair.

The realms of 32/48 bit colour are firmly the realms of professional media development. If by some miracle, the Xbox one did have 64 bit colour (which it does not because it can not) you would need to have a monitor capable of displaying a 64-bit colour space. As far as I know, there are no monitors that can display 48-bit colour yet, yet alone 64 bit. And furthermore, someone should correct me if I am wrong, but the widest gamut colourspace is currently ProPhotoRGB which is a 10-bit colour space. The technology isnt there yet. 10-bit per channel monitors that can display 100% of the ProPhotoRGB colour space are VERY expensive.

example from 2 years ago: http://www.trustedreviews.com/HP-Dre...Monitor_review

the HP dreamcolour is $2000. These are DEDICATED, specialised monitors. Nearly every single TV in the world is 8-bit or 24 bit in direct colour, which can reproduce hundreds of millions of colours. So even if the Xbox one could somehow produce 64-bit colour, there is no way we would be able to see that, because there is no panel technology that can display 64-bit colour depth.

Sorry, but your wrong. While its true our final image is shown in 32-bit's 64 bits are used frequently to allow for high dynamic dynamic range. Its possible to use a 64 bit buffer to result in subtle changes in the final color output.

It actually never occurred to me, I assumed if they were doing a comparison video they'd be getting these things the same. If that's the case, then yeah, this is an awefull comparison.

Are you suggesting that it was different tracks and cars? Oh I didn't notice!
Seriously though why did you think the only real comparison I was talking about was with the same car (although as has been pointed out probably not the same colour or finish).

I would have to say the ps4 version is more clearer than the xboxone version, however they both look good.. Considering most gamers won't have both system I don't no why these videos matter..

Actually, having watched the video a few times, it seems like the antialiasing was set the exact same on both versions. It's a wash, if I've ever seen one.

Hard to tell anything from these crappy compressed videos but it looks like maybe the ps4 version has more particle effects and other things going on on the screen like leaves blowing around. And remember I said maybe and crappy video.

Gameplay looks good. Hoping for this to be a Christmas purchase.

They are all so vastly different videos. It really his hard to make heads nor tails, and the one bit of the footage I thought we may have been able to compare turns out we probably cant.

Never fails that Ign always post videos making the other system look better than the other. I guess this is up to the people who have both versions and put up the true graphics and upload them to a better video perhas.

The game is doing nothing special.
Hell even the PS4 version supposedly looks better than the PC version.

Later, we switched to the PS4 version and were surprised to find a game that looked even more impressive than its PC counterpart, with better texture detail, improved lighting on cars and sharper graphics overall.

Indeed, there isn't any technical limitation why one couldn't go higher either.. (outside obvious things like performance and no visible difference in quality.. )

At start of the video the daytime seems to be different, could be other things as well.
This time we know that both machines do have same gamma curve, so it's not it this time.
