    [DEBUNKED]Always-online DRM still in play

This is Game Over, folks. It looks like the XBox One is still Always-Online. This may be the Launch Day surprise that CBoat was alluding to. I hope it doesn't pan out for the sake of gamers everywhere.

the user in question has confirmed though that he cannot play Call of Duty Ghosts offline, as according to him the game requires an internet connection to play.

and then we have the back of the Call of Duty Ghosts (PS4 version) showing that it has "offline play enabled"

if an internet connection was required it would say so on the box. otherwise, consider it illegal.

It's probably a COD: Ghost issue more than a MS issue.

the print states XBL may be required for set-up.

Does anyone know if he'd managed to download the day one update? Maybe they ship with the old pre 180 'always on' software as standard and that's what the update is to do with?

    Edit:

Jut read the article, it said he has downloaded the update.. Maybe this is to do with him having his console blocked until launch? It's a pissy trick, banning him from live for posting images and videos is one thing, but preventing him using his console at all is bull$#@!.. He's paid for it, after all...

I'm going to have to go back through a lot of his stuff to find the tweet. He might have been saying that killer instinct was still playable.

This might have before the ban.

I thought it couldn't be true.
No need to ban his console at all, so what if he has it early?

Hold on notice the Playstation Network logo and the logo's surrounding it surley that doesn't mean with some games on the PS4 that you will always need to be connected to the net.

Destiny will, as will The Division I believe. Much like how Defiance is an online only game right here and now on current gen systems. It'll only be a few select games that are designed with persistent worlds etc.

It is all right because I just noticed the offline enabled bit and thought they changed their minds that's all.
