Basically, as long as you have met the following physical properties above, then you're good to go.

    Here's a good "step-by-step":

Was just about to post something similar, but your video is way better.

My hard drive arrives today and will be installed tomorrow night =]

Not a very good how to video but it will do.
The scredrive he uses looks too big for the screws to me, especially those on the drive cage.

I bet on release you can download the update from Sony via the console itself like we do with the PS3.

The PSLS website has a great article on the subject of downloading the correct 859MB file (for update 1.50) when you're upgrading the PS4's HDD: http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/...an-859mb-file/

I think we should turn this into a PS4 HDD thread, include several how-tos and need-to-knows. Maybe include basic specs allowed just as a guideline?

In saying that, I think something like this: http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=1823195 should be fine within the system.

    #IndieStation4 and proud of it.

Couldn't agree more. We have something like this for PS3. Would be nice to have the same for PS4.

So...I've never replaced a HDD on a console before. How does the data on the HDD work and all that....like the drivers, OS and game data.

Like....if you have game data on the old HDD and say patches and all that. Is there a way to transfer all that stuff...or do you just finish said games and let the machine patch itself once you plug it up with the new HDD?

Three was a data transfer option on PS3, where if you had an external you could use that as a placeholder (transfer PS3 data to external - > then back onto new PS3/Ps3 HDD).

    Not sure about PS4 though.

Also I do have one question, when we get the PS4, should I boot it first and set it up, and then replace HDD, or are we safe to replace it as soon as we've unwrapped it from the box?

    #IndieStation4 and proud of it.

Downloaded the 859mb file, installed new HDD, it found the file but I got a critical error when it tried to install and told me to shut down my ps4. Going to try again tomorrow, slap the original back in for tonight.

    ***EDIT***

After not being able to log in I decided to re-download the file and give the new hard drive another shot and it worked =]

It's the Seagate 1TB Hybrid drive off amazon. So I got that out of the way, now just logging in =[

What did you do first? did you boot the system (with default HDD), set it up, and then power off to replace it?

Or did you do it straight outta the box?

    #IndieStation4 and proud of it.

I replaced mine as soon as I took it out of the box. Set it up in my entertainment center, plugged the USB stick to install the downloaded software update and it was ready to go.
