    Best Hard Drive for PS4

    Hi

Just trying to get a feel whether fellow PS4 gamers think that a 1TB hard drive is enough or whether a 2TB hdd will be better in the long run. Does anyone think its probably better to wait for a while until the right size PS4 specification 2TB hdd becomes available? (I have Googled and there is one but it doesnt seem to be on general worldwide release yet but if you know of a 2TB hdd let me know!!)

What make and size drive are you guys going for!! Let me know peeps

Why don't you wait till the stock HDD fills up before buying a replacement. By that time there will likely be more (better) options and prices will also likely be lower.

The hard drive fills up very quickly.

You can get 1 TB drives at the moment for about 90 bucks on Amazon. That'll hold roughly 25 to 50 games worth of data.

You just have to make sure the drive you buy is not thicker than 9.5" mm. There are 2 Terabyte 2.5" drives, but they're 15 mm and won't fit into the PS4.

A great deal of pure self-knowledge and inner understanding allows us to lay an all-important foundation for the structure of our life from which we can perceive and take the right avenues.

9.5mm tall 2TB drives are supposed to be coming out 1Q14, so not long now. There was an announcement a couple weeks back. I'm waiting, may even wait until 2TB SSHD's are available.

About 3 years ago 500GB would be plenty but not today, 1TB is the minimum requirement and at least with PCs you can add multiple drives.
I think next gen consoles will have to have either SSD or multiple drive slots or both.

Flumbooze the Samsung/Seagate Spinpoint M9T is the bad boy I had in mind (should have mentioned that in my original post). Looks good. Hopefully comes reasonably priced on release next year.

I bought this one, hitachi travelstar 1,5RB

    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/HGST/0J28001/

It's the same one thats stock in the ps4 but with 1,5 TB. So very happy and it was not that much more money then the 1TB drive. I didn't get it from that store but just so you can see which one it was.

    Hi Boboulus,

That was the same HDD mentioned earlier. I am having trouble sourcing it in the UK. I'll keep Googling to see if I can find it. Thanks for that info. Much appreciated.

It only helps when there are 7 PS4 games a month to buy. I think you'll be ok to wait on the TB's.

I'll stay in the same boat I was for the PS3. Just a regular HDD, no SSD. The difference isn't enough to warrant the price.
Also, I wouldn't get that one in the link:

    Item Under Review

While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)
We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.
