How Many Of You Are Buying Warranties?

For all of those that suffered the YLOD or RLOD from the PS3 days, I'm sure you're in the same boat as me. So which are you going with?

I'll be getting it with the accident damage. While it's pretty secure where it is, my 8 year old son will plug in controllers then trip over wires ripping out USB ports. I speak from experience! Worth the money for me.

I got it. 60 bucks for accidental for 3 years on a 400 product is actually a pretty good deal I thought.

I'm never getting extended warranties again. They have NEVER been used by me, either the product breaks right outside of the warrenty time period, or it never breaks. So far I've saved about 2 grand over the past 5 years from not buying warranties.

Got the one in the PSN with accident protection.
My fat PS3 had the YLOD and this time I want to be prepared. Better safe than sorry.

Not worth it at all. The system comes with a year warranty. That enough for me. If it doesn't fail within the first few months it will most likely be fine.

However for devices that are carried around such as PSVita phones and tablets they are much more valuable to me. As these must follow Newtons law... things in motion tend to stay in motion. Much more likely to have accidental damage! I got one for the vita and used it due to the left stick breaking off when it slid between my bed footboard and mattress.

Yep same here, never had any problems with hardware failures.

There's a reason they sell these warranties. They make a ton of money on them. Consumer electronics devices tend to fail either early and during the manufacturer's warranty period, or later but covered by a manufacturer's acknowledgement of a design flaw or defect, or way after the purchased extended warranty has expired.

I'll take my chances. I rarely, if ever buy warranties for electronics. I've probably just jinxed myself.

I bought it at Eb Games (Canada) and boy do they charge for that in store warranty

    1 year 80$
    2 year 130$

I did take the 2 year after a quick reflexion because this kind of beast is really prone to overheating even if Sony's design is normally smart. If anything happen I go in store and get another one, I prefer that

I got the warranty as soon as I remembered that it had an auto disc load system instead of the manual load they had for the later ps3's.

    Same here. Love your avatar.
Wouldn't it blow your mind if Naughty Dog made, Akira the game?
I've always wanted a game like that. It would have to be done right to be called"Akira"
I dunno? I just love Akira and would love to play as Tetsuo with his powers and driving bad ass motorcycles along the Tokyo streets. Man it could be bad ass if done right.

Anyways, I agree with your post,

I don't buy warranties, but with the 10$ wallet credit, the $49.99 turns to $39.99. Cheap insurance if you ask me on $400+ 13% tax

I actually bought the store warranty from GS; only for one year though. I did it because I can just turn my console in to them and walk out with a new one if something happens.

I got one at the store I pre-ordered from. Was $60 for 2 additional years. Figured I wouldn't need it. But I guess all the failure rate talk had my slightly paranoid.

I might get it, cause the $150 for repairs adds up quickly post-limited warranty, had to do it twice in my PS3 days.

What is the default warranty on the PS4, is it 90 days or a year? Cause I think the extended warranty is what, $50 for 3 years plus the standard limited warranty time? That's pretty dang good for $50. Although knowing my luck, I'll get the warranty, and my PS4 will run strong all the way untill shortly after the warranty expires.
