I can't let Sony win! Help! (Bad Troll or Endemic?!)

I can't believe it! I've abandoned Xbox ship due to hardware issues (2 dead Xbox 360s) and pre-ordered my PS4 a long time ago relying on Sony's ability to make good consoles... But guess what!!
My Unit arrived DEAD! Only a Blue pulsing Light Shows signal of life. I was afraid It was my horrible luck but after reading Amazon's Customer Comments it seems that about 40% of them are getting Dead Units.
    What's going on! Help!!!!

I would say bad luck. I've read about bricked consoles being received and a lot of articles on overheating. however the overheating has to do with mainly the display ps4 system being in a "sealed" container to protect from theft so of course it's going to overheat. I got mine from gamestop, and the box was a bit mashed on one corner so I was kinda worried, but turned out to work fine (knock on wood). I would say just a faulty unit or bad shipping. seems kind of odd to see those numbers from amazon, kinda points toward bad shipping to me

That's a pretty fancy spinner you got on that line but around here we only chase after live bait.

40% of them are dead? that's a load crap. You may have gotten on that is DOA, I honestly don't know but to say 40%. This sounds more like a scare tactic.

and yoshida released a statement saying it was currently at .15% or something like that didnt he? and that was due to the Taco Bell winners of which some probably didnt report accurately as he explained.

I went to Amazon and the ratings are signaling a 36% fail rate if you assume that the 1 star reviews are all claiming bricked consoles. Most of the ones I saw have verified purchaser next to their name. If it is true, is this a Sony problem or a poor handling of shipments through Amazon and UPS/FedEX? Again, this is just Amazon, not the ones sold from the others like Best Buy, Gamestop, etc.. An article I was reading I forget what city they checked, but no stores were having customer returns, which makes me think it is related to delivery methods of Amazon.

This is going nowhere, folks. In the first 48 hours people who receive DOA hardware call the manufacturer for warranty service and support, return the unit to the retailer for replacement or maybe create a new account and post to a forum asking for help to see if they're doing something wrong or there is a known DIY fix. They don't create accounts to reel off virtually impossible out-of-box DOA rates. They don't post complaints to Amazon's product pages. Those complaints come later, after a few days or a week, when they've exhausted quick service avenues and still aren't satisfied. Besides, wild stories on Amazon without Amazon's verified purchase tag are just wild stories.

A 40% DEFECT rate of any kind would run on the cable news networks. A 40% TOTAL DOA would make the front page of the New York Times. Above the fold. Two days running.

I haven't opened mine yet, got it yesterday from Amazon, how is the packaging from Sony? My MGS4 bundle for PS3 was triple packaged, so no worries of it taking a beating. I'm hooking mine up when I get home after a family dinner, fingers will be crossed the whole time.

so Obamacare ranks where on that exposure list? LOL

@atomicnuke: packaging was great typical plastic bags and wire ties for the cords and controller and numerous cardboard implants to keep the system in place with a layer of plastic wrap and "foam" around the system as well.

Take that with a grain of salt.

Not everyone which has a great experience will rate, but people who have bad experiences will make sure they are heard.

So far Amazon is the only one having widespread issues m could be bad shipping or just s bad batch. Sucks for those people but they will get them replaced. But I can understand the frustration.

Let's be real here. Anyone who thinks this is an Amazon troll who did a google search for Playstation forums and found this site, raise your hand and say "Aye."

    Aye.
