PS4 won - Pornhub pledges to fully support the PS4

    http://www.destructoid.com/system-se...4-265807.phtml

The PS4 has been out for a day or so now and people seem to be having a good time with the handful of launch titles. What about next week, when they've beaten all their ... PS4 games? What will they get a handful of then?

If you are one of these at-risk PS4 owners, and you're one of the few people in the world who enjoy videogames and pornography, then Pornhub has you covered. According to this probably NSFW tweet (the object in her mouth is hard to make out), Pornhub is the first porn site to fully support the PS4. This is the kind of 3rd party console support that matters in 2013.

As you (and Tim Curry) already know, the Wii U is also fully compatible with Pornhub and its related sites like Youporn and PornMD. What about Microsoft? Will they do what it takes to grasp onto the streaming porn audience, or will they let Xbox One lose that bone to the other dogs? Stay tuned to Destructoid for the latest on this evolving story.
Now would be the perfect time for Sony to reveal their own virtual glasses.

Per the Destructoid story, the photo attached to the tweet, yeah the object in the girl on the computer screen's mouth is hard to make out, but it can only be one of three things and all three things are very definitely NSFW.

Anyway, I wonder how Sony feels about stuff like this, if they even bother to keep an eye on it and I bet they do. Pornography is an astoundingly broad-reaching and profitable industry, but it's a stealth industry -- on the porn consumer and playback device side, no one wants to be associated with it. All the major entertainment media and media device companies stay as far away from porn as they can.

I don't think porn support is much going to sway a console-buying decision. Accepting due to ease of accessibility these days almost all of us consume some porn some time or another -- we may lie about it, but we do -- if you are watching so much porn that porn support determines which games console you buy, that's close on if not smack on, flirting with a bona fide pathology. (I would have written "bang on" instead of "smack on" but I'm trying to cut down on the puns. Oh, damn, I guess "smack on" is a spanking porn pun. Well, hey, I'm TRYING to cut down on the puns.)

Non-TLDR version: Big corporate entertainment device makers usually don't like it when porn distributors make a big show of supporting the devices they make. They don't want to be the "best porn device" company and they don't like comparatively tiny media outlets jumping on the giant bandwagons they've spent a fortune in advertising and PR to build.

They didn't do anything to block porn on ps3, They didn't start a contra PR war either. They can't because it's through the browser. It's up to people/parents to put a parental pinlock on the browser.

Doesn't really warrant an essay. It's also not their job to monitor it, the ISP does that by default.

I do not think anyone viewing this thread really think that this announcement is really Sony winning the console wars. You are talking about a whole other subject then what the OP meant.

They are, actually, in North America certainly, but also in the EU and Asia. STD rate are very high. Probably more of a personal and public healthcare issue, serious and often life-threatening medical problems due to widespread substance abuse. High suicide rate. High rate of clinical depression and severe anxiety disorders. Low rate of therapeutic intervention. Very high rate of violence against sex industry workers, mostly against women but men, also.

It's all ultimately a product of cultural sex taboos based on misplaced religious moralizing but that doesn't make the remarkably widespread and substantially negative psychological and physiological outcomes among sex industry workers any less real. And for that same reason of cultural taboo, the whole industry flies mostly off the radar, meaning people who want out or need help are off the radar so can't get out and don't get help.

Anyway, it's a problem. An age-old problem, really, but contemporarily amplified by greater accessibility to pornography and therefore greater demand for a steady stream of new content.

Regarding blocking, it's inaccurate that they can't block it because it's through the browser. They can block anything they want through the browser. They blocked YouTube on the PS3 browser, no problem. I doubt they'll block any sort of adult content via the console browser, but they can.

On the matter of an essay, if you don't want to read three paragraphs then don't read three paragraphs. I don't tell you what to write so I'd appreciate it if you'd not tell me what to write.

And as for the overarching topic of porn and your response to my opinions, alas, poor Yorick... Well, one of those quotes out of Hamlet, anyway.

no viruses and trojans target specific OS. It is possible someone could make a virus that targets the PS4's OS, but they would be very very uncommon, it would be more effective to just write code for Windows OS or android

Hopefully porn hub supports X1 as well. Would like to see some more 720p vs. 1080p comparisons.

Parents are going to flip out when they find out that Porn is on the ps4. So I wouldn't be surprised if Sony deny's Pornhub.

yeah, you can write viruses and trojans for anything, it's just Windows market penetration -- yuck, yuck -- is so high it's the go-to. Apple for a while sold Macs partly on a "no malware" advertising theme, but Mac OS X, when you get down to it, it's just a proprietary UI running on a likewise proprietary custom-tailored BSD implementation of Unix. People can write malware for Unix, maybe not so easy as for Windows, but people don't target Macs because there are comparatively so few Macs to target.

Thank you! Originally that was my only point and it remains my main point. I'm not a porn crusader, pro or con, but I was making the point Sony as a company probably doesn't like this and might make some sort of statement opposing it or least distancing themselves from it by quite a ways.
