That makes me feel better. I left for work this morning thinking maybe 8 hours would be too long

It was made for this. There is absolitely no reason for concern.

I had issues from Standby going back online via Wi Fi, had to reboot and it was fine.

I keep my PS4 on standby mode. Been that way since launch. It allows me to take advantage of features such as automatic updates as well as downloading games from the PS store remotely from the PS App. Took advantage of this feature yesterday with need for speed. Purchased the game from my phone using the PS App and set it to download to my PS4 and it did that all in standby mode. Came back after dinner and the game was there, fully downloaded and waiting to be fired up.

The PS4, as well as other electronics such as smart phones and tv's are built to be in standby mode.

The same reason you would ever unplug it and take it with you. And because you have to have an ON-button the first time before you pair the Dualshock 4. You notice how the they've tried to make the buttons blend and fade into the console?

I have kept it either on or in standby since the moment I first turned it on and no problems yet so. Plus like ckarlc said you have the great features that come with standby mode.

I've been keeping my on standby mode. As someone else posted, I rarely ever reached back to completely turn off my PS3. That thing was always in standby mode unless I was moving it somewhere. No reason to think the PS4 would need to be treated any differently.

I put my PS in standby since the Vita can not find the PS4 for remote play if it is completely turned off.

PCs are very much like Air Conditioners.
They both become utterly useless once you start to open up Windows....

The PS3 has always been in standby mode i'm willing to bet that 90% of those that got the 1st design PS3's never switched the power off fully from the back. Then moving to the slim i'm willing to bet 99% never unplugged it as those didn't have a power switch. Standby is an extremely low power state and we have been using it on our Playstations for years. So Standby for me as i like having my console update and all that so i can get right into it when i'm ready.

I turn mine off in case theres a sudden power outage. I use standby for downloading mostly. The standby on PS4 is more like the low power mode that you can put your Xbox 360 in and then shuts itself off when its done downloading. The PS3 standby is different than the PS4. But I dont believe either choice is going to hurt the console.

    Ok, so I'm confused.
As of now standby mode is lacking suspend and resume until a patch that is yet to be announced, right?
So what's up with this video showing XBO and PS4 boot times from a cold boot and a warm boot from standby, and
when he turns on the PS4 from standby, it instantly goes to the login screen?
So can someone refresh my memory here?

I only use stand by to charge or to download and install something if I go out. I am a cheap $#@! and refuse to pay the power company any more then I absolutely have to

I have been leaving it on standby mode since reading this post the other day, and today i'm glad i did. i had some rewards via the sony network and some money left in my PSN wallet so i decided to buy NBA2K14 via the playstation app on my iphone.

went home for lunch and the download was done and started playing through my lunch break.
