Things I say while playing Battlefield 4 Campaign

At first, I was going to give a detailed review of the game. Then I thought...why waste time when DICE didn't? (ZING!) So I devolved it to one-liner rants of things but they seemed like a bit too much so I figured, I'd keep it light and simple. Well, here's the jist of it:

    Hey BF4 SP campaign,

    Y u no good script?

    Y u no fun?

    Y u no look good?

    Y u no smart?

    The End.

still doesn't change the gameplay. in this day and age...it's hard to believe that you can't walk past your comrade without being pushed over like they were made out of rock. then there are constant invisible walls, possibly the worst friendly A.I. in history and super annoying enemy A.I.

don't get me started on the script lol. all i gotta say is...thank you for the entertainment DICE.

i don't want to start lol. i want to just let it go...because I'm enjoying MP, which is also riddled with horrible glitches but that's another topic.

The gameplay is still really average, though. I enjoy it more than Battlefield 3 - which felt like it was dragging me down alleyways and roads on a damn leash - but that's not saying too much. I got to the beach where the storm is rolling in, and I kinda just stopped playing. I'm so burned out on these kind of shooters.

But the game does look gorgeous. Drop-dead gorgeous.

well yes, i would have gone into more details but for the most part it looks better than than BF3 but not in all things...of course, this is on the PS3. I'm sure the next-gen + PC look better in every way.

they had to keep some of the things looking good in current gen consoles, like water and weather effects but they had to really reduce a lot of other stuff like gun models, particle effects, terrain details, geometry details, just overall looks very rough in spots...lighting looks worse in most occasions. also the frame rate can get very low even in SP.

it's like they basically neglected the current gen consoles...and also messed up on the higher up platforms.

EDIT: i don't even know where to start on the storyline...i will say that the first sequence was the best...after that, it has been downhill.

at least BF3 changed the pace a little. this game gets very boring very quick. too many firefights, too many logic mistakes, too many invisible walls (most of the game, you have to wait for the $#@!es to get done talking so you can do whatever you were supposed to...at times, it will wait 5 seconds even after they "tell you" to go ahead, how horrible is that?)

then there's the script...omg...bad script is one thing...because i even enjoyed BF:BC's stuff, average stuff doesn't bother me, it's the dumb stuff that does...i just lol most of the time. and did you guys notice that the boss guy moves his hips like a woman? wtf is up with that?

I thought it was horrible. One of the worst shooter campaigns I've ever played. I finished it and was left wanting a ton more. Not to mention the ending was so abrupt. I've seen COD campaigns that were much better than this. It was pretty though.

On PC it basically looks like BF3, but it has an extra layer if polish on everything. Some of the lighting effects were also nicely improved. But you're right, it's not really a big jump. I think games like Metro still stand on top when it comes to graphics.

Also, yeah. Bad Company's campaign is far superior. I could actually go replay that and have fun. In Battlefield 3 I couldn't even beat the first mission, because I had to follow the heels of the freaking AI the entire way. I tried breaking off for a moment, walked away 10 feet, then the game went nuts and threatened to restart to checkpoint if I didn't get back in line. I turned that $#@! off quick.

More substance. It was just so bland. Not saying I wanted more campaign. Just saying could have been more to it to make it mildly entertaining. Hell BF3's campaign blew this away. I thought that was mediocre.

the water looks amazing, the weather effects look amazing too, i can't imagine how much better they'd look on more powerful platforms...the only gripe i have with online is that it chugs along on the PS3. that's it. and well, it's limited due to keeping it on so many platforms but other than that, they did a tremendous job with the online gameplay modifications...much much more fair this time around and surprisingly tactical.

i guess with BF3, I can understand that some people have their own stuff they might dislike, i didn't care for the areas you couldn't go...i just hate how you have to listen every few minutes in this game and then you get pushed over by your friendlies (and it looks painful on the eyes because it's done so horribly), not to mention, most of the maps are mundane and nothing interesting really happens. at all.

i mean, at least we had the jet mission in BF3 and a few more themed ones...and...oh God...the scripting...it makes me puke. i can't even talk about it. i'm going to sound a bit xenophobic here but europeans (non-english speaking) need to stop making dramatic scripts...or scripts in general...well, just game devs (maybe it's just DICE). i actually love european movies from non-english speaking countries. they make some badass movies...remember that vampire one? "let the right one in"...what was it, swedish? i mean, that $#@! right there is how you do it.

the script doesn't have to be good honestly, especially not in video games...you just need to not have it so bad...even if they had skipped the story for the most part, i would not have minded. argh anyway. i don't even care.

but seriously though, all they had to do was...make dialogue minimal, work on personalities of friendlies...forget storyline, this is war, there's no story. i'd rather take a game where i'm insignificant and not everything has to happen all around me all the time.

i'm getting sick and tired of developers making games that spoon-feed you everything...really starting to hate this new casual trend...whatever. i think it's time to move on to MMOs.

On PS4 I got about 5 mins in and was like, "I can't play this anymore." I was way too bored from the campaign. Love the multi though, hence why I bought it lol

Aren't you from my neighboring state? It rubs off lol. But the game on PS4 looks damn good. The character models, environment detail etc. All look damn good but that's it. It is just all makeup and no personality.

Damn, just checked, I am way off...didn't realize georgia was right under it...and yea i was thinking that we had arkansas next to us, not louisiana. makes sense as some people here claim to be from there.

anyway, texas is a crazy state, if any of the states ever succeeded, texas would be the first one i'll tell you that right now. maybe not but it will definitely be one of the first ones to follow through. if this place wasn't so incredibly hot and was more like indiana from an environmental sense, i would rate it the best state i've lived in so far. people are rich as $#@! here and everything's cheap for the most part.

i was a bit intimidated when i first got here. people do not think of texas as just another state.

Not sure why DICE bother with SP, just save that time and money and spruce up MP to what it should be

Unless they want to make singleplayer like the Bad Company games, DICE needs to stop doing storymode and focus just on the multiplayer.

I played the BF3 story and I wasn't sure if I was just tired of the war story, it just wasn't a good story, or both. At least the BC series added a different view from the typical war game.

I really want to play the BF4 online but not enough to pay full for the game. Hoping by this weekend they add free vouchers to more of the AMD R9 series or I get a voucher in their giveaway.

Seriously, I agree with you on most of this. But, I can tell you that this game is a beast on PS4 also, they have just patched it and it runs pretty well now. 64 player is insane. The graphics are crazy and the control is very tight compared to PS3. Even the SP is better in every way. Except of course the awful part when the Russian guy actually says "When you've lived through a nuclear explosion like I have" ........?

Lol that line would be classic if it was in a comedy. I didn't realize he was in BF3 until after I looked up the cast on IMDb. The way they presented him in 4 was like he was some special character. Didn't realize and didn't care because 3 was just as easily forgettable as 4.

my problem is that they have introduced a lot more problems than before, which isn't logical. i don't care that it's not much better than BF3 (online) but you know, they had all this time to work on things...they did poorly.

oh there's a lot more comedy in there than that. like when the marine asks the chinese guy (who's supposedly partner evidently spoke clear english): Do you speak english? Are you ok? and then proceeded to ask another question...i was like, ok wait for him to respond to the first one you know lol.

and then this one point where you are given the command (for God knows what reason), and then we're on this ship that was just attacked, and the only way from there is to go up the ladder and Irish asks you, "What should we do commander!?" and I click x to give command...and he goes, "Ok, right commander, let's go up the ladder and find the bad guy." of course something to that effect.

it's just $#@!ing pure comedy i swear. i felt like i was watching Go Diego Go.

I swear bf3 is the better game out of the two. I have been playing ps+ bf3 and I'm having more fun with that game than bf4. I don't know what it is but the guns just feels better in bf3
