    CD Player

    Hi guy

I don't know if this has been posted yet. But I was reading through the safety guide (page 10. US)
and notice the drive can read cd even though it doesn't play them. Do anyone know if a sysytem update could enable it.

Not at the moment anyway. A lot of the missing media functions can be implemented at a later date through firmeware updates.

Most Blu Ray players can read both CD/DVDs, my guess is the PS4's drive is capable of such thing but unless Sony changes their mind no way it'll work until they enable it through an update.

Thanks for the most mature reply. But I thought that. Most new noobs think I'm new to this site but I use to go by sonyqrio back in 06 when that dude had bill gates as his avatar, those were the times ask lefein. If you think you are a vet think again. I've been bleeding blue since ps1 and I don't mean the slim one. Tks again bro

............................... We went over this. in the Blu-ray spec. We had multiple threads and instances where this was brought up, We even read tweets that they hard we we wanted such feature added, and they shouldn't have been...... (you know, BLU-RAY SPEC DAMIT!!!!)

.....................That example would hold up if VHS wasn't already dead at the time. Sorry but music is treated differently. YOU may have moved on from the format but in case you haven't notice, the music (read: CD) section is still a real thing in any store you go into today.

I retract my statement after some research, I really thought that it was almost a dead format. According to google , anyplace that is not on a coast or near a major city still uses cd's mainly .

    i still don't think it's a big deal though.

The lack of a CD playing feature is of no importance to me but for some it is, and it's not far fetched for people to want such features, I haven't bought a DVD in years but some people still would appreciate being able to play them like they would on their PS3. But like I said, Sony could fix this right away, and they probably will at some point.

It's personally not a deal breaker for me, but I can see why a lot of people would want CD support. FIFA 14 allows you to import your own chants into the game (which is a feature I'd love to use), but that's impossible with the PS4 as it doesn't support it.
