    Graphics vs. Frame Rate

Would you sacrifice one for the other? It seems this gen the target for FPS titles (online anyway) is 60 fps. All 3, KZ:SF, COD and BF4 can't hit the mark 100% of the time.

With further optimizations on their next title, I'd fully expect 60 fps 100% stability. However, would you happily take back a rock solid 30 fps with immersion and graphics that make you crap purple twinkies or visually take near what we have and keep a stable 60 fps?

Speaking purely from a PC perspective, i value frame rate more. If i can't maintain 90fps i turn down extra visual enhancements. First to go down is usually shadows and then AA/AF/SSAO

I'll take 1080p at 30 frames per second over 720p at 60 frames per second.

For online gaming, frame rate means everything. For single player, I will take graphics over fps.

I chose graphics overall. But this is from a perspective of 30fps vs 60fps. Now when it comes to going below 30fps, I can only tolerate down to about 20fps before I downgrade the graphics.....depending on the game and only then in single player. Multiplayer.... it's framerate over graphics. And for multiplayer it must be 30fps minimum.

What Lethal said. I'll take 30 FPS with 1080p (because I really never had an issue with it) for singleplayer and I'll take 60 FPS for online play. Every bit of time counts in multiplayer. Be it seconds or millisecond.

I don't really need a water cooler/remote control as of right now.

On a console, a steady 30fps is perfectly fine because of the limitations in reaction speed with the controller. But on PC it's very noticeable, so it depends on the system at work. Generally I will favor a solid framerate on the PC. It doesn't bother me to turn shadows from ultra to very high to get those extra 10 frames.

Back when Bad Company 2 was new I used 1024x768 resolution with the lowest possible graphics on my dual core computer, just so it would render above 60 frame rates.
Not had to do anything that drastic since then although I do tend to play Quake live with the "competition" config which makes the already outdated graphics look worse.

IF 30FPS on PC looked as smooth as 30FPS on a console I wouldn't mind too much, but it doesn't, it looks choppy and hideous.

If I am playing on consoles I would rather have the graphics fidelity to be honest.

    I agree.

can't believe I'm about to say this, but I think I'd take graphics over FPS. Lock me at 30 and immerse me in awesomeness.

It really doesn't matter to me. I've been gaming on everything from 30 to 60+ fps. Basically, it is what it is.

This thread reminds me of the "great taste" VS. "less filling" Millet Lite commercials.

And the best "great taste" VS. "less filling" commercial was the two hot girls fighting ....

The look on the girlfriends faces at the end is priceless.

I've never had an issue with 30 fps as long as it was locked there. 60 fps is nice, but not essential for me.

I would go with what somebody else posted, 30 fps for SP with enhanced visuals, and 60 fps for online play.

For racing games I would choose frame rate every time, great having good graphics but if the car jitters while trying to race it would be annoying as hell!

Depends entirely on the type of game.

Racing game, some fast paced FPS, or some fast action game, give me the frame rate.
Slow paced RPG like Skyrim, slower paced action games like Diablo, most adventure games, I would rather have the graphics.

Does it really matter if Skyrim is 60fps when the character animations still look like 12fps sprite animations?

Graphics, I don't notice frame drops unless it's under 30FPS
