    New Gamer, what should I start out with? The Last of Us?

    Like the title says, I'm thinking I may get back into gaming. I havent played much since my PS2 in high school and even then I really didn't play anything other than GTA, for which I constantly used all the cheats. I have attempted to start playing again in the past with my PS3 but I always seem to lose interest fast.

    I saw a trailer for The Last of Us and it looks really good. Everybody on the internets seems to like it as well. but I'm afraid my lack of skill will make it difficult to get back into gaming. Any tips or insight for a total gaming newb to get back into it?

    Personally I'd start with something simple like Infamous if you never played it. Real cheap these days as a matter of fact. Me personally another game I'd recommend is Wipeout HD/Fury on Playstation Network if you're not into Racing games then Scott Pilgrim vs. the World just cause it's that old school beat-em up if you know what I mean.

    Honestly probably should be titled Returning Gamer the New Gamer part through me off a bit.

    You can play TLOU just turn down the difficulty level. You can play anything man just turn the difficulty down. What kind of stuff do you like?

    I think inFamous is a fairly good suggestion/ Maybe a simple platformer like LBP2? It has great mechanics and unlimited lives.

    Then maybe move on to harder games.

    That was exactly why I picked that it's not a HEAVY game like others which means it's not one with a lengthy involved story which you must make time to complete.

    LBP2 is a nice suggestion as well.

    Starting with TLOU is like skipping all the courses and going straight to desert. You should play some of the other gems on PS3, like the Uncharted series, some inFamous, a bit of Killzone, Journey! Many there are so many good games for you to get stuck into. TLOU is a no brainer though, you won't regret that and it will leave a lasting impression.

    I don't completely agree with Ghost. If you've been away from gaming for some time, you should go for something savory straight away to get you going again. I recommend Bastion on consoles or on PC with a game pad. In which case, hook that PC up to a TV! If you first start with Bastion, I suggest you stick to it until you've finished it. Many a gamer fatigue starts with playing to many games and finishing none.

    What about Ratchet and Clank? Either ACIT or the new one (which I hear brings R&C back to form).

    boy, do I envy you.

    There's really a ton to recommend. You said you tried to play some stuff on PS3 and grew bored. Curious, what games did you play that didn't hold your interest? May help in understanding what games to recommend and which to avoid.
