Assassin's Creed IV is sooooooo damn good!!!!!!!!!!

This is easiest the greatest AC game ever made. If anyone is pondering whether or not to pick this game up, just do it! It is hands down my favorite game of the year. I think I like it better than GTA5.

Yes, the game is very good. Ive had more fun running around sinking ships and upgrading the jackdaw and just exploring the maps than i ever did in any previous game, save for MAYBE Brotherhood.

The only thing that bothers me, is that the combat is so much worse now than it was in AC2 and Brotherhood. Most of the time, i just stay on the ships while im boarding, and try and take out as many people as i can with the swivel gun, then just pick people off with my pistols, or i just sink twice as many ships and then deal with getting half the loot.

As I played through AC3 doing the boat missions, a Uplay message popped up saying that I was in the top 1% for ships destroyed. I thought, "hmmm, I guess many aren't into this". The boating was phugging amazing in AC3, so exciting and fun and epic.

When I saw AC4, I was obviously quite a happy chappy. I'm getting my PS4 next year around March when inFamous and FFXIV drop and will pick this up then. Looking forward to this in 1080p looking all bootyful, arrr, it be lookin' bootyful alright.

This game is amazing. Yes they made it frustratingly hard to chain kills but if you use patience the fighting is not bad. The story is actually really good from beginning to end.

Ok I was going to make a new thread asking this but I'll just ask it here to avoid have two different AC4 threads. What makes this game so great versus the past? I'm not trying to discredit it I'm simply curious. I wouldn't mind playing it but this series has just worked on me the past few games in the series. I hated Revelations Then I hear how great AC3 was. So I played it, thought it was good for about 2-3 hours in then I was trudging through too finish it. It's just the whole concept is more stale than 3 month old bread to me. The tedious climbing of building to do missions, jumping from rooftop to rooftop, chasing people down, etc.

Trust me, I would love to have that AC2 love come back, because honestly i haven't felt in touch with the series since then. So did anyone else have this feeling coming in and actually felt the magic that they have been missing from the series? I'm simply asking because I see everyone going nuts over it. I'm just curious as to why the game is leaps better.

I have never owned an assassin's Creed game so curiosity got the best of me with all the good reviews and a good friends recommendation, so I bought it.

I'm trying to get into it because i paid 60 for it but it's just not doing "it" for me. Hopefully that will change.

I don't know why but I had an image of Hannibal Smith saying that (with a cigar of course)

Been playing AC4 for only 5 hours I'd say and it's awesome, I'm quite weak at the naval combat, and anyway I'm more into exploring the islands and jumping in trees but yes, this game will give you fun moments and lots of them.

If you don't like the core mechanics of the games you will not enjoy this. The sea battles are really good but at heart it is a assassins creed game. Just like I don't buy cod games because to me they are tedious and full of foul mouth 14 year olds cheating. others tho love it. It is not a shooter. It is not a rpg. It is a action stealth game

AC4 manages to do what AC2 did for me. I do not want to put the controller down when I am playing. AC2 was the only AC game I ever wanted to finish. And AC4 is the first game since AC2, that makes me want to finish this game 100%. The story, the missions, the graphics, everything! This is the simply the best AC game ever made.

I'll agree with this. AC2 is the only one I've platinumed, and I'll probably be platinuming this one.

I've got 5 Sequence's to go back to get 100%, The Legendary Ships to fight (I tried a couple and came close, but really wasn't in the mood to figure out the techniques needed) and getting the final two MP ones (Lvl 55 and All Rounder about 1/3 of the way there.)

I did have two Trophy's Glitched on me though. I think I 'earned' them when an early PS4 patch to the game was being applied. I played SP while it was being downloaded, I selected install, and went back into SP after it was DL'd but the next time I played it asked to install it again. And I think something f'd it up. So I had to replay to get 'Silent Fool' and 'Business and Pleasure' I didn't realize how much you had to play through the story to get to the point that you earn that much money. I had about 45K Reales earned (keeping track) when I got to the part of the story were you can start capturing ships and doing trading. I had about 250K from the companion app (from my previous game save play) and when I opened up the trading map, it pulled it all into this game save. Wasn't exactly expecting that, but the other 'Business and Pleasure' Trophy popped.

Note that I already earned enough in the other game save to buy everything and still have 500K Reales left over.

Great game, I've found all 'Yellowed' out all major locations, but haven't gone to all the non-fast travel locations to pick up the final Chests/Animus Frags/etc. I'll probably do that after I platinum the game.

Right now, I'm debating on whether or not to buy the Season Pass or just part it out. I wish I had bought the season pass on Amazon.com when they were doing the $5 credit if you bought it.

I'm a bit pissed at the MP right now though (at least on PS4) as the Wolfpack mode (I usually Solo this for max points) is bugged, after the first couple of Bonus Objectives completing it stops giving you bonus objectives. Normally I could complete the Wolfpack normal in about 10-12mins with the bonus objectives, now it takes about 15-19mins on average. Not only does it take longer, but I don't get near as much bonus on time.

While I enjoy a bit of MP on AC, it's not something I want to spend 25hrs hours working on just to get the platinum Trophy. So I'm playing a season or two a day, and hoping it will be fixed soon.

As for the fighting system. You need to really learn the various enemy's and know who to Counter (and which follow up is most effective), who to break defense, who just to hack and slash unless an opportunity to counter occurs.

I understand that. Not saying I hate the franchise. The gameplay mechanics don't bother me that bad it's the setup and mission types that get old. They just seem to not advance much in this aspect. The concept of having multiple Islands and stuff to travel to does sound fresh. I'm more or less wondering if anyone is in the same boat with interest dying out shortly after starting the game.

This is very encouraging. Thanks for the input. I've honestly been out of touch with the series since AC2. Glad to hear from someone who feels the series hasn't been great since then.
