    BF4 on ultrawide screen

if i were to use a 21:9 monitor to play bf4, does anyone know if the ps4 will scale the aspect ratio to 21:9 automatically? it would be like playing on dual monitors on a PC!

here's a video of the ultrawide i was thinking of buying

    No...
Output is 169 1080p and lower. It doesn't support 21:9 and more than likely never will. Games would have to made to be output at this ratio and as they are fairly new and aimed at the multitasking pc folks, I just don't see it happening.

You would most probably notice black bars on top and bottom with 16:9 game/content on 21:9 display. There'll be no automatic scaling by the console.

Can you change the field of view(FOV) on the PS4 version? Do that and it'll give you a wider view which makes spotting people from the sides much easier.

I think the default is 70 which I think is far too narrow. For comparison I use 120

No, the FOV can't be changed.

Ah, that sucks... You'd think it would be in all versions. Most FPS games give too narrow FOV, imo

    Wrong.

You would see black bars on the left and right as 21:9 is wider than 16:9, not taller.

Displaying 21:9 content on a 16:9 screen would result in black bars on top and bottom as the image would otherwise be too wide and needs to be resized.

Another great example of innovation, I am glad to find it. There are so many developers working on this segment but this is one of the best innovative idea ever. Thanks for sharing it here.

ahh yes, i think i got the two reverse i was thinking along the lines of blu-ray movies on a 1080p display, yeah 2:35:1 > 1.78:1 in width not in height so the black bars would be left and right instead of top bottom. Either ways you won't get a 1:1 frame and the console won't do any resizing. This could change if sony decides to add 4k support in the future.
