I had been using my Samsung Galaxy S4's in ear headphones. They're good quality sound and mic, plus free (Have multiple sets from various smart phones.) The problem for me is, they'd inevitable start loosing up and falling out over time. Not good during a 30min survival session on Warframe.

I really want a decent Surround Sound (from actually 7.1 or even 5.1 audio source and not Matrix from stereo.) But I'm waiting until Sony finally announces what the EXT port next to the 3.5mm plug is on the DS4, as I suspect it's to support headphones w/ surround sound audio via the controller.

So, not wanting to spend a lot of money and not necessarily caring if they are the most robust headphones, I bought a Turtle Beach M5 headphones. They are completely over the ear (padding rests on the head around the ear.) The sound quality is decent (not $100+ Sennheiser decent but I'd put the up against $100 Beats.)

So far no complaints on the audio, and I asked a few people if it sounded Ok, and they all said it sounded fine.

Yes it is plastic, I don't expect it to take a lot of abuse (but I don't abuse my stuff.) And it's an intermediate solution. They Retail for $50, I paid $31 from Amazon and so far I'm happy given what they are.

Would I recommend them for the long term, probably not. But for budget friendly and shorter term solution. I'd recommend them.

It's interesting that Sony announced yesterday that Turtle Beach will be making their Playstation branded gaming headsets moving forward.

I love the gold wireless headset. On GTA online it helps me from getting killed as I can hear which direction the bullets are coming from

lol....nice. Yeah, I love my gold wireless. So easy to move it between my PS3 and PS4 with the USB attachment. Sound is great.

Dolby headphone is crap, it just seems to add some sort of reverb to alot of games. Check youtube for various tests.

Buy the PlayStation Gold Wireless Headset. Bang for buck is unbelievable and they work with any 3.5mm jack no charge required.
They honestly sound damn good on anything and the detail is really right up there. These headphones sound better than most SONY branded dedicated headphones.

I still have the original 7.1 wireless headset and that sounded great, but this new one is better.

Apparently they only work with PS3 and PS4 in surround otherwise its 2 channel stereo for other devices PC Xbox etc. Which is fine if you don't PC game or own an Xbox, but for those that do they might want an all rounder.

So wow. I didn't realize there were that many sounds in games. I'm hearing things I've never heard and the surround 7.1 is amazing.

Judging by some of the reviews I've read people don't know how to use them. IGN Said they were good then proceeded not to say anything good, they only highlighted all the negatives. Must be on the payroll again.

I'm glad I read the negative about them Fr9m a few sites because when I turned them on I was blown away. Despite what some have said the bass is awesome.

These headsets really make gaming a different experience.

Thanks, and I appreciate the thread. I just bought a PS4 and was wondering what a good pair of headphones would be (at a reasonable price). I'm going to order a pair of these myself. Cheers!

If you also PC game you can use Razor Surround 7.1 software to use these amazing cans on PC in basically the same way they do on PS4.

I have been using these non-stop for the last 4 days, I can't believe how good they sound on the go with my Walkman + Heaphone amps. They look good enough for street wear too.

I picked up the Steelseries Siberia Elite at release and the 7.1 sound on it is also stunning. On PC they're better than my 5.1 optical speakers! On top of that I can connect them to my PS4 controller and still get 5.1 PCM to the headset and it is crystal clear. Oh and did I mention that it is THE comfiest headset in the world ever? I completely forget that they're on my head after half an hour and on top of that it the ear pads are made of memory foam, so that's why I can't feel them after a short while.

Best money I have ever paid. They're not small or cheap but they're unbelievably sexy and shines in many bright colours.

Ok, I could not get my old pulse headset to work so I used some birthday cash to pick up the Sony Gold set, love them so far and no issues after a couple of hours.

Question, when I have them on and go to adjust devices, the option to turn up headset volume is grayed out. They're plenty loud, I was just curious of this is normal.

Yeah it is. You control the game volume and chat volume on the headset itself.

Question, what mode do you guys like better the VSS or regular. I actually much prefer VSS so far unless I'm listening to music.
