Fall of Man is always averaging 50-100 players a week. During the days, depending on the time 30 or less including myself. I was told by an Insomniac Player; they have the moon tag next to their screen name. As long as the players, play it wouldn't be affected, I guess it does matter now.

It's a shame to see for things like GT5, but can't always expect to play online games forever. They may extend the shelf life of a game, but at some point people stop playing or not enough play to keep them running. Except for GT5, that's crazy that the servers are getting shut down already.

Consoles really need to hurry up and start letting people pay for their own servers.

that's what PSN+ is there for. they don't need to close it down when we'd be paying for it. thus why Xbox servers never shut down.

if so, likely very rare. and likely due to a specific reason. they wouldn't have mass server shut downs like this. this is definitely for cost cutting.

Seems premature to pull GT5, but I am sure it is business strategic. However, judging from this list there are many games I would target before this one.

    8 years and counting!

GT 5 was released three years ago. How long would folks expect the servers to stay up? Especially considering GT 6 is out. Asking....cuz I really don't know. Not much of an online gamer.

I think the biggest shocker is it's typically much longer for games for that renown. They still have PS2 Servers running lol. Usually really popular games are kept on servers for 5-7 years. Especially major franchises. I think it is just the shock factor in the decision more that the decision to cut it off.

At the very least 5 years. Releasing the newer game is no reason to close the older games servers.

Games should last a lot longer. Especially popular ones. I think SOCOM 1 and 2 were taken down about a decade after.

I'm going to miss M.A.G. epic 256 battles, endless supplies of targets to shoot. I hope Planetside 2 fills that void. I'm going to be more wary of what games to invest into. Because they could become a cup coaster in the future (M.A.G, Socom Confrontation

Thousands vs thousands, trust me it'll fill far more than a void, it'll fill it and then some.

    N-1

in other words you always have the present release, plus the previous release servers online. As a new release comes out then you drop the oldest release. This means you'd have GT6 and 5 and then when 7 comes out it would just be GT7 and 6

actually that's not even normal i'd say. even that would be unacceptable. especially if one is paying for the servers.

I agree, but think it's a realistic first step commitment from Sony. I'd of course like to see more older releases supported but the main point here is that no game franchise should dump it's previous release just to force people on to the new release.

of course not. although i don't agree with this decision because the game was not that old and considerably amount of people played it online. with the rest of games, it's a grey area because those servers were being presented for free. moving forward, it would not be acceptable at all if a similar decision was done on the PS4 because we're paying for those servers.

I'm it too bothered about this.. I guess it sucks if you are playing one of the games they are playing but personally I'd rather them concentrate their resources on the here and now, especially now we have to pay to play online.

I always hoped Sony would make digital copies of their biggest games available through the PS Store, and the online components would be kept open/re-opened. Pipe dream I guess. But seriously, how much trouble would it be to open a SSX3 server in some secluded corner of the internet?

    Shut up and play games
