Sega Appreciation Thread - Consoles, Handhelds, SegaNet and Games!

I admit I'm not the biggest fan of Sega but I do have fond memories of playing Dreamcast games. We owned a Genesis as well but I don't remember it as much (except for Sonic the Hedgehog 2). It seemed like Sega were on a different level with the Dreamcast though before Sony's PS2 and DVD sales left them in the dust.

That said, this is a thread to celebrate Sega's role in the video game industry, their games and perhaps SegaNet if it was something you used. Maybe you owned a Gear Gear. If so, what was it like? I didn't get into handheld games until '98 afterall.

One lesser-known Dreamcast title that I used to love playing was Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense, developed by Luxoflux. The game featured characters like a cyborg cowboy assassin driving a hover car and an alien driving a garbage truck. It was a car combat game like Twisted Metal but, in my opinion, better.

Grandia II was also cool but when it was ported to the PS2 it had noticeable framerate drops and some flickering textures.

I have Vigilante 8 on PS1, I quite liked it but my friends didn't, was kind of a twisted metal rip off or was it the other way around?

I loved my megadrive right up until it stopped working. I have Virtua racing somewhere and super skidmarks and many other awesome games.
The days when 24Megabit was a HUGE game.

Bag of ****! You had to use it 6 feet from a wall socket otherwise you got if lucky 3 hours battery life on 6 AAs.
I do have one with its original box but the screen capacitors have gone. Its an easy fix but I really do not care enough to fix it.

Always liked sega games but final Fantasy kept me me on Nintendo. Until dreamcast marvel vs capcom 2 is still my favorite fighting game. And Sega bass fishing kept me busy for a surprising amount of time since I don't fish.

Not sure about the original but 2nd Offense had unique power-ups like hovercraft wheels and snow skis/treads and salvage points to collect with every kill to increase the vehicle's stats and alter its appearance. I also really liked the different levels. Nuclear Plant was my favorite. I guess it also helped that I didn't suck at the game. Lol.
