It's incredible news really, something that has such immense potential it's scary. Let's hope Sony hitsthe ground running and makes the service the envy of rivals the world over!

I think most of agree it's all up to the price if this thing is actually a good or bad thing.

    That's cool.

But if I already 'own' that game (as in A) Purchased digitally via PSN/amazon and redeemed and downloaded via PSN, or B) 'Purchased' as part of PS+, or C) Purchased as a retail copy)?

I understand B or C not being part of the equation - but Option A, I surely don't have to pay for PS3 game twice just to play it on my PS4.

"Definitive Editions" or PS4 versions of cross-platform games, are different. Of course you can make an argument against it, because they are truly different versions.

And not just the PS3 version streamed via PS4 or whatever device.

I'd be against paying to download the title to own, especially if it was full retail (or close to). But if it were like $10-$15 USD or something I'd consider it.

    #IndieStation4 and proud of it.

That would pretty much slay. I'm willing to bet that there will be some stipulation on the service such as the games won't be any younger than two or three years old. If publishers get a piece of the pie, they won't want it to compete with physical media sales.

Still, they have to know that there is more carrot than stick in doing so. For instance, if people can play "catch up" via Now, then it will have to boost new sales (for instance, Metal Gear Solid 5). People who haven't gotten into the series can play all the games before the new release and drive up the fanbase.

This is actually very interesting. You have 3 choices, subscribing being one of them. I was under the impression subscription was the ONLY option. And at that point my (And other peoples) question became is the subscription included with ps+ or extra. Seems it is extra, however it's also optional...which is good news.

So I think it'll really come down to how much you want to use the service. Only interested in a couple games, might want to buy them. Like a couple dozen but aren't looking to keep them, then rent. Want access to hundreds of titles no matter what, subscription might be the cheapest choice.

Speculation on my part, but I don't think I'm far off.

I'd also venture a guess that ps+ membership is NOT required. I say this because it works for devices NOT in the ps+ eco system. Smart TVs, phones and tablets? Would suck if someone without a console wanted to access Crash Bandicoot on his Bravia but have to pay for a service that he gains no use out of.

i don't think price will be that much of an issue. Its the noticeable lag that will make or break it.

I'm excited to see how this works. I know now that I'll definitely have to upgrade my internet service to use it though. 3MB down isn't going to be enough. Might have to hold off until I move. Looks promising and I hope a lot of titles are added day 1.

Yeah if 5MB down and faster is the requirement then I'll be good to go with my 15MB down connection.

Damn, I guess being a Playstation gamer is not going to be the equivalent of being the red headed step child this gen, seriously all my co-workers were xbox 360 gamers along with my Supervisor.

As I'll be moving to Japan, and don't feel like only playing Japanese games (even if it's region free, which I doubt it is, since it's digi-distro and that's never region free) I guess I'll have to skip it. Have doubts anyhow because of latency issues, which will be significant even if they spread their servers out geographically.

The CES demo doesn't really count since it's essentially a mockup, and CNET said there WAS some lag.

Being hardware leaders twice has netted them a pretty stunning back catalogue of games.
I'd gladly pay $15 a month to pick and play 5 PS1 titles for that month.
How the pricing works is beyond us right now tho.
