For 120Hz enthusiasts it seems pretty sweet, but I really would rather buy a 4k 28" monitor for the same price (which are also available).
Though I wonder what good a 120Hz screen will be when no GPU on the market can push that high fps on next gen games anytime soon

Gamers don't have to use max details ll the time and don't have to play the latest most demanding games all the time.
I play Quake live often and Half life 2 deathmatch and currently playing through The witcher.

Not as good as a 120Hz monitor as it just replicates the frames rather than actually accepting the 120Hz signal like a monitor would.

I can play CS GO and PayDay 2 as well as many others at 120 fps on 120 hz.

Won't work with it. Only has Display port input. Plus what's the point if the consoles only put out at 60hz and 1080p at best.

I would ALSO use it with the Xbox One. If I get it to go with the PC first and foremost, just wondering how it would go with the console as well. Hmmm. Adapter?

If you can find a HDMI to Mini display port adapter then I guess it would work. Might look strange though a 1080p picture on a native 2560x1440 display.

Really looking forward to getting one. 120Hz is a beautiful thing

Yeah, I'm trying to find an excuse to get it. Wife might be a little pissed if a drop near a k on it lol.

I've done some 1080p gaming on the 27" imac screen, it isn't bad at all.

Haha I mentioned it to my other half earlier. Her response was a short sharp "What!?" Tried to explain ive wanted a monitor that offers both that resolution and refresh rate for best part of 2 years now but she didn't see the sense in it

    Stealth savings to the rescue

Oh I'm going to buy it if I want it; regardless of what she says. The aftermath is the only thing to try and reason with.

Fortunately we don't share money (though she does get paid considerably more than me ) so I can buy it she'll just think it's a waste of money really looking forward to the release though. Should have it 2 months after release will need to buy another GTX780 though as well to keep up high frame rates

I dont think that there is any card out there which would be able to run games like Far Cry 3 and Crysis 3 at 120 fps so that the monitor would show the 120 frames in hz.

I might be wrong but if you use a 120Hz monitor the chances of tearing are slimmer since the gap between frames is halved?

Correct that's why no need for V-Sync if you can run games above 60fps.

G-Sync will only improve this even further so in theory 40fps@60hz could look smoother than 90fps@120hz

Not even two 7990 in crossfire will be able to pull 90 fps.

AT LAST!! Asus ROG 27'' 2560x1440 120Hz G-Sync monitor. What dreams are made of!

Don't know about 7990s but I think 780s or 780ti's could. $#@! the 780 vanilla can get 50fps at ultra and my 780 is 15% better than that and the TI is even better again.

Powerful cards in SLI will do it with ease

Edit. Added in benchmarks. They only use vanilla cards so don't make up for overclocked increase In performance

None of those listed were able to pull 90 fps not even talking about 120 fps. I am surprised by the bad performance of the 7990.

Those are just Vanilla cards though. Considering the GTX780 gets 83 frames without AA should mean my cards would get over 90. The GTX780Ti SLI, though not benchmarked, would get it easily.

AMD have never been known for their good Xfire scaling. Though once mantle support for BF4 comes out they supposedly can get 45% more out of the R280/R280X/R290X cards

Battlefield 4 must be poorly optimized. First of all Id like to say that the graphics arent really good. A lot of blur, bad edges even with aa and destruction is limited. The animations didnt improve from bf3 and look outdated. Plus this game running at 40 fps on a 700$ gpu is a joke.

Yeah, my bad. I uploaded those from my phone and it seems Tapatalk decided it wasn't going to upload clear pictures.

BF4 is actually optimised rather well and runs very well, better than BF3 did. Subjective though. The graphics are pretty damn good for a multiplayer shooter of the size it is and the animations are all very good when you've actually played it. While it doesn't look much different from BF3 graphically that hardly means the graphics aren't that good. Which shooters aside from Crysis look better, currently.

I say that as someone who only put ~40 hours into BF3 but i'm now nearly at 90 hours in BF4.

Crysis 3 and Far Cry 3 both look better and run better than BF4.
I would want to see my graphically advanced games so that we will have more variety in bench marking our computers. But real games, not just benchmarking applications.

Neither of which games offer 64player battles which will reduce the quality.
