Watch Dogs PS4 to perform better than Xbox One release, claims insider

    http://www.psu.com/a022271/Watch-Dog...claims-insider

Industry insider Ahsan Rasheed has suggested that the PlayStation 4 version of Ubisoft’s open-world hacking title Watch_Dogs will possess a superior frame rate to the Xbox One release.

The comments come in light of confirmation that Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition will run at 60fps on Sony’s new home console, in comparison to the 30fps achieved by Microsoft’s machine.

“Wait till Watch_Dogs . PC>>PS4>>>>Xbox One>>>>>WiiU,” tweeted Rasheed (via GamingBolt).

While this is his personal opinion on the matter, it isn’t too hard to imagine this happening given the fact numerous Xbox One titles have performed notably worse than their PS4 counterparts. Aside from Tomb Raider, Call of Duty and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag are among the games that run more smoothly on Sony’s platform.

Furthermore, Rasheed doesn’t predict this disparity between the performance of third-party games on next-gen consoles will disappear any time soon.

“Further PS4 optimization in year 3/4 will widen the delta of performance gap,” he said.

Watch_Dogs is due for release later this year on multiple platforms.
    Seems to be a trend

Expecting the gap to widen further like a boss.
Think someone on this forum said something similar like a boss.
Oh, that was me like a boss.

Once the developers decide they won't even try for platform parity, it opens the road towards GPGPU to be implemented more robustly in game design.

Microsoft better get their $#@! in gear. I think a lot of people that have both consoles, no brand loyalty when it comes to mp titles, will be getting a LOT of them on PS4. I've yet to buy a mplatform on the Xbox One. Doesn't seem that will change any time soon.

I hope MS learns something from all of this, and I hope it's that people want performance. Unfortunately, they wont until people send them the message.
If this trend is still happening when I go to buy a console, I know which one I will be getting.
Scrapping the dual o/s thing would be a start, pulling Kinect as a reserved time slice, there's a million ways to get closer to the raw performance this system could actually do.
They are betting on gamers not giving a dam about performance, stupid bet.

Although Thuway is simply guessing on this one. No insider source. Its not beyond probability.

I think brand loyalty has something to do with it. The ones like me or minute compared to the amount of people that like Xbox, and will buy all the games they buy because they are on Xbox.

Yeah if I was MS I would be doing everything I could to maximize capabilities. They are behind the curve right now. If they don't get it together it's only going to get worse. I'm sure they will but this is becoming a common trend. They should know after last gen that having the better performing multiplatform system means a great deal. Especially at this stage.

I have loyalty to games, I love Halo, I love Gears (although both need a fresh paint job and some tinkering). But realistically I play multi-iplatforms the most, my brother in law has an Xbox one, he's had it since launch, and I haven't even been around to see it.
Thats how excited I am for hardware at this point.
I hated the Ps3 controller, I like the new one, there isn't a whole hell of a lot making me choose any loyalty to Xbox at this point. But then there isn't a whole hell of a lot compelling me to the the other side either...

Sticking with what I have for some time...just picked Ghost:Recon Future Soldier for $4.95 digital...I am happy.

whats to get together, they have the far weaker system. PS4 multi-plats will always come out on top.

That's a given, a performance gap of 30-40% is to be expected. We are seeing gaps of 100% and greater. That's not the hardware doing that.

They can tweak the OS to be more efficient. Not saying it will be the difference but it's a start.

does not matter what they do to the OS, the hardware is not capable of giving the games PS4 performance.
while i do expect Xbox games to improve when sat beside those on PS4, they will always lack features in comparisons to the same game on said PS4.

Of course the hardware is not as strong but reworking the OS is better to try and get somewhat equality than just sitting back and watching it get worse over time. But we all know they will make it run more efficient over time.

I just wonder if MS will have to compromise some features in order to squeeze out enough efficiency savings to make a difference in the long run. Refactoring software, at some point, is going to have diminishing returns. Then you come to the question of "what can we do without".

    I honestly didn't expect this:
“Further PS4 optimization in year 3/4 will widen the delta of performance gap,” he said.
On paper it looked like the PS4 was slightly more advanced than the X1 but I didn't expect game performance and visuals to be a noticably different.

Unless something comes out of left field to change my next-gen buying choice, looks like I'm going with the PS4. Now I just need Sony to announce an Infamous PS4 bundle.

Same here. They kind of have to stick to their guns now. The OS was built around having an all in one with gaming. I wonder how much fat they can trim off without intervening on some of the stuff the system was built around.

They talk about the advantage of the that APP o/s as being always on. I'm fine with that, but 3 o/s is an indirection you don't need, its fine for a APP o/s to fight it's way through a virtual layer, but not really acceptable on the game side of things.
I know MS talks about the game o/s being very thin to the hardware but it's still layer.

Get it thinner, make the virtual o/s also the game o/s, then run the app o/s on top if you must.

In short go form 3 o/s to 2, with the game o/s being raw metal.

Or better yet scrap the whole app o/s thing full stop.

They need to go from this:

    2nd layer -GAME(O/S)|APP(O/S)
    1st layer -Virtual O/S Manager

    To this

    2nd layer- APP (OS)
    1st layer -GAME/Virtual OS

In other words get the game o/s on the bottom floor. Its do able, hell I run our DC on the bottom floor with two Virtual running above it.
